I logged into the ESXi host via the vSphere Client, migrated the Management Port Group to a Standard Switch, then I could remove the Host from the Distributed Switch. I could then remove the Host from the Cluster.
Uninstalled Update Manager and reinstalled it fixed the issue. I think it was to do with the DSN settings during the installation! I couldn't update them via VMwareUpdateManagerUtility.exe.
