Make sure you check the box for "Use PCoIP Secure Gateway for PCoIP connections to desktop" under the Connection Server's Edit screen. I missed this one for a few minutes and it had me confused.

I prefer to run a separate vCenter instance. Our deployment is much smaller than yours, and we run it separate because it provides isolation of the environments, allows us to schedule maintenance and not affect both environments, and because VMware has lagged behind making View completely compatible with the latest versions of vSphere in the past (e.g. vSphere 4.1 requiring 64-bit Windows when Composer wouldn't run under 64-bit.) Especially in an environment as large as yours, I would run it separately.
You can have your users go to your connection server's web address and log in that way. It will automatically install the client. Would that work for you?

It should take <5 seconds to get your desktop. If it is taking more, there are probably issues in your environment somewhere. I would recommend checking speeds from the site experiencing the slowness to your View site first. ____________ blog.eeg3.net | Useful VMware-related Links If you found this or any other post helpful, please consider the use of the Helpful/Correct buttons to award points.

I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues. Here are some links to hopefully help you setup PCoIP without the issue you are having: VMware KB: Configuring PCoIP for use with View 4.0 PCoIP VRAM Fix It might be worth completely reconfiguring your template with the process described in the methods/settings from the links above. The only time I had screen sizing issues was before I did the PCoIP VRAM fix discussed in the 2nd link above. I hope these help. We've been very happy with View once it was set up 100% properly. It is a very new technology, so it does take some time to learn it. ____________ blog.eeg3.net | Useful VMware-related Links If you found this or any other post helpful, please consider the use of the Helpful/Correct buttons to award points.

In 4.0, there was an option under View Connection Servers settings to have the Connection Server do "Direct Connections" to the desktop. This would basically bypass the connection server and have your client directly connect to the VM. This was required for a lot of TCX to work in 4.0. I don't even see that option in 4.5, so perhaps that is the problem you are seeing? ____________ blog.eeg3.net | Useful VMware-related Links If you found this or any other post helpful, please consider the use of the Helpful/Correct buttons to award points.

View 4.5 is now released, and the ability to do what mittim12 said is now a reality. The interface is very intuitive, and does exactly what you need. You had the problem at a good time, it seems!

Since you are planning such a large deployment, be sure to keep in mind some of the limits on components in View. For example, View Composer can only create and provision up to 512 desktops per pool. Also, be sure to take into account other factors like ports on your virtual switches (default is 120), adding more than one connection server to handle the load, etc. Most of the limits you will run into are discussed in the VMware View Architecture Planning Guide and VMware View Composer Design Considerations. Good luck!
