Seen this issue when capturing Visual Studio on a clean VM. The workaround is to capture Visual Studio on a clone of the master/base imagae VM. This will help to overcome the license issue when assigning the AppStack. Please note that this will work only if the pool uses QuickPrep (not SysPrep).

This is a known issue in App Volumes 3.0 that is mentioned in the release notes: VMware App Volumes 3.0 Release Notes‌ You cannot delete applications from the inventory after you sync the respective AppStack from a file share To work with application assignments, you must sync an AppStack from a file share. Afterward, applications in the AppStack appear on the Inventory page at Application > Inventory. You cannot delete these applications from the inventory page. Workaround: Contact VMware support to clear such applications from the inventory page.

As far as i know, there is no list available for public at the moment and I'm not aware of any third party tools for assessing the applications for AppStacks. In general, do not package applications that have kernel mode drivers or antivirus or VPN and applications that run after user logs out. As always, you may post on this community if there are any issues with any applications.

Well, i guess it will pick up English language in this case as the AppStack may not have language packs bundled while capturing. However, if possible, set the language preference in the application itself (if available) whether to start on a specific language or same locale as the operating system. For example, you can set the language preference for Acrobat Reader Reader: controlling the Reader MUI startup language
This is not supported. Either AppStacks have to be assigned to "Computers" or "Users" but cannot mix and match the assignments.
Thanks Ray. This has been documented in the AppVolumes User Guide on page 41.The value of DriveLetterSettings is 4 instead of 6.
Yes. As far as i know, manually migrating the data is the only option and I'm not aware of any tools to automatically migrate data into writable volumes.
Do you mean 2.10 version? If yes, please go ahead and use the same for production.

Yes. Please use writable volume (that are unique for each user) to save the user specific data or application settings.
AV 2.10 does not support SQL 2014. Please try with SQL 2012 (SP1).
Yes, you need to configure at least one vCenter Server.
Can you please check whether the Domain Bind username has any non-ASCII characters or not?
Please make sure that the provisioning machine also has Outlook 2010 (or other Office applications that are on the base image) preinstalled.

Yes, seen this issue with Visual Studio 2010 when capturing on a clean VM. The workaround is to capture Visual Studio on a VM with master/base image that is used for deployment. This has worked for me to overcome the license issue when assigning the AppStack.
Hi, Thanks for finding out the mismatch. The SQL versions mentioned in the release note is correct and the User guide is incorrect. SQL server 2014 is not supported yet.
Please install App Volumes agent on the VM and retry.
