I've found the same. It's not a good behavior from the software, because it leaves doubts: it's not deleted, but how can I delete it? I think that if it fails it should leave the icon to try again after having freed the space. A possible workaround is: create another snapshot, somewhere inside the machine snapshot tree, and then delete it. For what I could see looking at disk space, after this deletion the used space goes lower than before the creation. I suppose that this operation triggers the effective deletion of the disappeared snapshot. Furthermore, this deletion takes a long time, while a "create and soon delete" should be very quick.
