Hello Experts, We have old VMware platform with ESXi 5.5 and vCenter 5.5 connected with iSCS and NFS LUNs. Our new platform (ESXi 6 and vCenter 6.5) is FC based LUNs. Is it possible to move VMs between the two platforms using storage vMotion without having old and new storage connected to each other? Plan is to present the LUNS from old storage to new ESXi platform and do storage vMotion between old data store and new data store. Please guide
Hello Experts, We have a requirement to deploy ESXi 6.0 on ESX 5.5 Physical server. Is this possible. I read that there is a VM hardware version requirements to be met. Please help.
Thank you RvdNieuwendijk . Appreciated. So can we move VM from ISCSI procotol LUN to FC LUN ?

Hello Experts Our Old ESXi servers (5.1) have data store connected to old storage with FC (Netapp) and iSCSI (HP 3PAR) storage. The new storage we ordered have only FC cables. (IBM model) We need to move VMs and storage from old esxi/storage to new esxi/storage. Do the new storage (IBM) need to have ethernet cables also connected to new ESXi so that ESXi can have access iSCSI based LUNs? Does the old storage need to be connected to new storage to perform storage vMotion? Please help.

VMFS on 5.1 esxi host is VMFS 3 Is Storage vMotion possible in these scenarios? At the moment both the storage are not connected to each other.  What connectivity we will needed between the storage? Hello Experts, Need a quick advice. As per EVC basics it help vMotion to take place between CPU of same model but different clock speed or number of cores. Our old server has - Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU   E5640  @ 2.67GHz and new server has - Intel Xeon Processor E5-2680 v4 The old server is running ESXi 5.5 and plan is to install ESXi 6.0 on new server and put them in the same cluster and migrate the VM from ESXi 5.5 to ESXi 6.0. Is EVC or vMotion not going to work when using above mentioned CPU model. Both are Intel Xeon ?????? A quick reply will be appreciated.

Hi Experts - We are planning to move to Windows Server 2016 and would like to know couple of design consideration 1. We have ESXi 5.5. Does it support running a virtual machine of version Windows Server 2016?? 2. Is it possible to run Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2016 on the same ESXi - I believe this is fine, but what factors to consider from Windows Server licensing and ESXi licensing point of view Advice please.

Hello Guys - I am new to Linux OS and have been working mainly on Windows. My query is very simple. When I add a second hard drive to a LINUX virtual machin, in this case RHEL 6,  how can I create paritions like I do in a windows box. In windows we create using disk management console and it is GUI based, I know how to add a hard drive from VM edit console, I am trying to add a new hard drive of 100 GB and want to create 2 paritions of 50 GB each. I know how to this on Windows but like to learn on Linux. Any help appriciated.

Hi, We have a virtual machine for which there are many complains from end user that the application is running slow after virtulization. Application team shouts that application was working fine on physical server. Need help on below questions Question 1: Which components I need to check to validate on virtual machine performance Question 2: When I pull out a performance report from vsphere, does the report include the performance of the virtual machine, guest operating system and application or is it only performance of virtual machine. Question 3: How do I differ the virtual machine performance from OS performance or the graph is an overall indication of complete virtual machine performance including OS and application running Question 4: When taking out virtual machine performance report from vSphere, there is an option to choose 1) system and 2)Network options along with CPU and memory. What information does this 2 options provide Question 5: If a virtual machine has high CPU and RAM utilization at virtual machine graph level, how to get performance report at the OS level, if using performance monitor then what counters to be set for CPU and RAM in performance monitor Question 6: What performance counters to be set the OS level to understand disk read/write performance Question 7: If a SQL server virtual machine has 2 vCPU and it still have performance issues, is it good to make it 4 vCPU or what is the alternative Any guidence highly appriciated. Memeory graph shows complete 12 GB fully utilized. What can cause a SQL server to perform slow

Hi, In our environment we have ESX connected to NAS (FAS 2000/3000). Like in SAN environment the LUN ID should be same if they are presented to different ESX host for sharing(or we create host-groups for the LUN to be shared), what would be the similar configuration on NAS side that i need to ask NAS team to configure. Question 1: What should be my question to NAS team to make sure the a volume is available to all the host in a cluster (a public LUN type)? Question 2: Like on SAN, LUN is created from JBOD, how is it in NAS environment? Question 3: Any guide I can refer for NAS and esx enviornment Question 4: Any white paper for infrastructure for ESX and NAS Any help is much appriciated. Thanks
