hi guys by any chance has someone converted / moved an Linode image .img server from Linode Cloud to Vmware? I am having some issues customer gave me this .img file and there is not real steps in google from someone really accomplishing this if anyone has any idea or has done it let me know thanks, it's CentOS 7 server from Linode I tried with Stanwind V2V converter which supports .img files but server won't boot (operatying system not found) looks like linode servers does not have fstab neither grub at linux level thanks a lot

hi guys I would like to hear your opinions about this right now we want to migrate to 6.0 Vmware version but we found our cluster has some servers that won't support ESXi 6.0 and they have to stay in 5.5 U3 (right now they are 5.5 GA) and we have some other servers that are compatible with ESXi 6.0 what do you think of having a vCenter 6.0 managing ESXi 5.5 and 6.0 hosts in the same cluster? good practice? might happen something unpredictable ? any recommendation? thanks a lot

hi guys I know here this topic has been more than discussed.... I think I read not sure in one of the Vmware Design Books something related to this topic but I can not find it or is there a PDF or something providing some recommendations regarding this ? I know it depends on the Software your VMs uses but I would like to have some reference from Vmware or trusful resosource....not my recommendation or feeling as my boss said to me.... yuo know my feeling says CPU is not used at all.... let's us 4-6 vCPUs per Core for old CPUs and 7 - 12 for new CPUs thanks a lot

hi guys We monitor everything using Nagios. So we have several VDP 5.5 and there is a tab named Reports where VDP indicates the backup usage and you know that when 80% or more VDP can get in troubles.... Monitoring the filesystems /data01, /data02, /data03 won't accomplish the same....I already tried creating some correlation between the % reported in the Reports Tab and the df -h command space....but the thing is when you delete Backups or when you reduce the retention policy, Reports Tab says % usage has decreased but I don't see that using the df -h linux command So my question is there a way to get that % from Reports Tab anywhere in the VDP Appliance config files or something ? thanks a lot
I am running vsphere 5.5 Enterprise Plus license, we are a service Provider in fact I hope that answer what you asked me we are running 5.5 U2 thanks a lot

hi guys I working on vRealize Automation Center version 6.2.1 I following the PDF Guide to implement... Right now I am here 15 Configure the license to enable the Infrastructure tab on the vRealize Automation console. a Click vRA Settings > Licensing. b Click Licensing. c Type a valid vRealize Automation license key that you downloaded when you downloaded the installation files, and click Submit Key. So my quesiton is where to I get that license? for what I understand is really needed for the Infrastructure Tab to show up and work.... if this is a POC for my company where do I get that? I have access to keys and stuff in my vmware profile but I don't see it I search for VRA and nothing comes up update I just logged it to the vcac web and I get this error is it related I think thanks

hi We provide services to some customers and for example in one of our virtual datacenter we have like 8 customers with at least 2 VMs running. so is there a way to monitor vRAM/CPU/Storage Usage (per GB) for a group of VMs? In that way I can have 8 groups and the VMs for each customer so I have the resources they use in a period of time? right now some of our people collect this information manually and per VM, so If a customer has 6 VMs, they run a report for each VM and create an average usage per customer, which is a very manual process (right now using Vmware performance charts or Veeam One) that's why we want to know if there is way to group VMs and get the average resource usage. is it possible or I need another tool? thanks a lot

hi guys I got a VM which is up and running but from vCenter View is inaccessible taking a look at the Datastore I see the Virtual Machine is missing .vmx file and logs files, so I already schedule a maintenance windows for my customer, but i just want to be sure about this: - Shutdown VM - Remove from inventory - create a new VM and Add the Existing virtual disk - Power on VM everything should be fine Basically follow this KB http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1002294 Or I should be worried about the vmdks consistency? thanks a lot

hi guys Ok right now we are thinking to replicate VM from one office to another Office using Vmware Replication. cool that will work OK using thr normal Source -> Target Way. But is there a way to replicate some VMs from Target to another Target? I mean let's say we have now Source/Target and we want something like Source -> Target(New source) -> Target 2 I know that only one Vmware Replication appliance can be used per vCenter that's why I am not sure if we can use the same vmware replication appliance that acts as Target to be used a s source as well? something like the picture I took from VDP Administration Guide and modified adding one more target... I forgot to add some text: Site A Replicates to Site B Site B Replicates to Site C is it possible? thanks a lot

hi guys Can we replicate one or more customer to our vcenter environment without exposing our vCenter-ESXi? I mean we want to provide replication as a service but I don't a way doing this if we don't let customer access our vCenter IP since Vmware Replication does/needs pairing for the destination vCenter... that means we are exposing our Vcenter infrastructure to customer.... is there a way to do that without exposing our management for vcenter environment? thanks a lot
