Only way to get it to work for now at least is to connect to the vcenter server appliance from vmware workstation on my pc. Good enough for now but must get that fixed next week too

Also tried resetting the SSO sign on using the instructions here via Putty but no luck https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2146225 I get the new PW, make sure it has no "!" and use the username administrator@vSphere.local and it doesn't work. tried several times.

It's been a while since I've logged in and I need to create a new VM but when I go t the console tab I can only see about 30% of the screen. Going to full screen mode by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Enter gets me the same result. I can't even setup the OS because I cannot see the lower portion of the screen to see Next, or enter the key. What can I check or do? Also my mouse when I click into the VM (any of them) the tracking is way off.
Thanks again for the help. I plan on putting this into place int ht upcoming weeks. My USB cable won't reach the ESXI host so I'm going to order one then I'll set this up

I have a small VM environment that consists of one ESXi 6.0 U1 host that's running on a Dell PE T320. Only two active VMs. One is the domain controller and the other is the IIS server. I have an APC Smart UPS1000XL that everything is plugged into for power but the USB cable is currently not going into anything. What would I need to install or setup that would allow me to plug the USB cable from the APC unit directly into the ESXi host so that I can configure it to shutdown everything gracefully in case of a power outage.

I was able to generate a new password last week for the Vcenter Server Appliance (5.5U2) and it worked for logging in so I made note of it and I came in today ready to upgrade to Vcenter 6.0 only to find out it won't accept the password again. I figured no big deal, I'll just reset it again but I've tried 4x newly generated passwords (none with a "!") but it won't let me login. I'm following the instructions I followed last week to generate them using Putty: https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2034608#vSphere 5.5 Any idea why it's not working? I can't upgrade it without those creds. I mean the PW seems to reset but still won't let me login using the newly generated PW

I ran VMware converter to convert our 2003 server to a VM so I can test a Sharepoint upgrade however when I go to boot it up I get the following error "Security Accounts Manager initialization failed because of the following error: Directory Services cannot start. Error Status 0xC00002e1 - Please click OK to shutdown this system and reboot into directory services restore mode, check the event log for more detailed info." Not sure how I can get past this. Should I try to run the converter again or will I run into the same issue? Not sure if the error is on the windows end or VMware side. Also to add to this, that used to be our Domain Controller but recently migrated everything to a new server.

I'm having an issue with VMware Backup & recovery and I was advised to check the ESXi hostname and to my surprise when I connect to the vpshere host and check under configuration > DNS and routing it only shows "localhost". is it safe for me to change that to something more descriptive? I know local host is 127.0.0.1 typically.

Just wanted to see what VMware recommends as well as other users. Makes sense to me to treat the virtual workstations like physical machines, aka keeping them patched with Windows updates and also to make sure to install antivirus software in each one. Is that the case?
