Dear Mahesh As it depends of many factors we can't easily answer to this request. I strongly recommend you to contact your VMware Sales rep who will help you with a VMware Cloud team member support. I hope you'll have the opportunity to test it and see how easy it's to setup and protect your workloads. Thank you Emmanuel
Hi vdavid, Proximity routing newly renamed "Mobility optimized networking" is embedded into HCX including HCX provided with VMC.  And yes, VMC leverages NSX-T. Any questions? thank you

Mahesh   With these RTO/RPO, VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery is the best solution to achieve this. This is a low cost & efficient DR solution even for a small environment. Or, you still have the choice to use one of 3rd party backup solutions supported by VMC to do backup and restore but keep in mind that following amount of storage to backup/restore you can have more than 4 hours to rehydrate data into your VMC SDDC and that will slightly complicate the process. You have many ways to leverage this backup mechanism but main idea is to backup from on premise and replicate data repository to a S3 cloud bucket then, once DR needs to be activated configure a new backup instance from the Cloud, import backup then restore to newly created VMC SDDC. You need to check if backup vendor can support S3 export/import and cost for license and evaluate S3 needs. Of course, with VCDR all these brainers are solved: all inclusive solution (repository, replication, orchestrator..) easier to setup and predictible from a pricing standpoint. hope that helps! Emmanuel
I do recommend you to contact your VMware sales rep or VMware AVI specialist since at this moment, this is not included into VMware Cloud on AWS. Thank you Emmanuel

Hi PK, You're right, today you have the choice between AWS ELB, 3rd party, AVI Network which is now a VMware solution. In this case, AVI is customer managed. This is why, we are planning to better integrate AVI into VMC to make it VMware managed as an addon. Hope that helps Emmanuel
Hi, Do you mean vSphere Web Client or Cloud Console? Emmanuel

Dear Mahesh The only DR solutions supported to VMC are : - VMware Site Recovery https://cloud.vmware.com/vmware-site-recovery - or our newest solution called VCDR: https://cloud.vmware.com/cloud-disaster-recovery  Beyond this, how many VMs do you need to protect? 1 or more? What are RTO/RPO?    Emmanuel

Hi, If you want to add a VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC into vCD, this is only possible with the SaaS version of vCD called "Cloud Director Service". More details here: https://cloud.vmware.com/community/2020/05/28/vmware-cloud-aws-vmware-cloud-director-service-now-available/  Solution Homepage: https://cloud.vmware.com/managed-services/cloud-director-service  Note that you can still leverage your existing on premises vCD and link it to the SaaS service on top to get an hybrid approach: manage your on prem and Cloud (VMC). Hope that helps! Emmanuel
Hi, Is your problem solved? Can you please update us and eventually share your feedback? thanks Emmanuel
Hi, Did you have time to test and check what I suggested you? thanks Emmanuel

Dear PK, You can read this page that provides all details and links to sub section: prerequisites, checklist... Migrating Virtual Machines But to answer your questions quickly: vMotion based migrations needs a L2 VPN connection indeed, just to ensure a communication and continuity to workloads after been migrated. And as you probably saw, HCX is a separate solution to achieve mass migration or at least automated migration. It can of course be installed in addition to L3 or L2 VPN. Each one has its proper role and purpose: - L3: mostly for admin purpose (HLM, SSO..) - L2: for vMotion based migrations or VM to VM comm across Cloud. - HCX: Automated migrations, migration types choice (cold, warm, live....), network extension and Compress/dedupe So, coming back to your questions about DNS/HLM requirements: If you want to initiate a vMotion based migration from your on premises vCenter to VMC, you do need a DNS properly to install HLM, as HLM is required to initiate vMotion from vCenter. Otherwise, if you do not want to set your DNS accordingly, you will need to initiate from a script/API. This is clearly explained here: Hybrid Migration with vMotion Checklist : [.... Hybrid Linked Mode is required to initiate migration from the vSphere Client. It is not required to initiate migration using the API or PowerCLI...] I hope this is clear now! Good luck! Emmanuel

Edwin I have neither none experience on this but I do know we did some tests with partners/customers based on different VoIP vendors and that worked well. AFAIK most of issues could be with latency between users and VoIP systems so of course, the closest you are, the better it is. I would say it worth a test with a PoC. HTH Emmanuel

M-nara Yes, you can do this with the API, As a reminder, API are available at many levels within VMWonAWS: - Cloud services (main platform) - SDDC & network (NSX and integration with AWS) - vSphere for VMs You can find API explorer on VMC console by selecting "Developer Center" menu on the left. In addition, you can find some great explanations and examples on: https://www.kmruddy.com/2018/powershell-inviting-users-to-vmware-cloud-on-aws-org/ Hope that helps Don"t forget to mark my answer as successful Emmanuel

Hi PK Can you please elaborate? I don't understand your question? In the meanwhile: HLM is the ability to use your existing on premises vCenter authentication within VMWonAWS, so you need to be sure that you have properly setup your DNS settings on VMC with on premises DNS to establish communication between cloud and your Datacenter. So as this page explains, you need : - to get an established VPN or Direct Connect connection - DNS Settings properly setup on cloud side - and at least credentials for an user that has at lease read-only access to your base DN Looking forward to get more details or if its resolved, please mark as is. Thanks Emmanuel

Hi, Can you please give me more details to help you: - which kind of HCX installation: on-premises to another DC, on-prem to VMC..? - Did you cautiously follow pre requisites like: unrestricted access to on prem vCenter and ESXi? - Is there network separation : management port, VMkernel port, network port? With VLAN? vLan routing? - Do you have enough IP Addresses to deploy HCX vApps as required? Thanks Emmanuel
Manivel If I successfully answered to your question, please set it as solved and mark my answer as useful. thanks

In addition to SLA and service descriptions docs provided in previous post, basically we can simply say that: - You, as customer, are responsible of your virtual machines/workloads: create, update, migrate, delete: the whole lifecycle management - we, as VMware are responsible for everything under those VMS: colo, network, storage, infrastructure and updating/patching those hardware and software components. HTH Emmanuel
I do confirm, Proximity routing is not supported (for the moment) in VMC with our embedded HCX.
