Hi All, hope you all doing good. when we deleted and recreated a vmkernel nic the name automatically changed to the next in the series. It was vmk4 and when recreated it changed to vmk5. Is there a powercli or commandline option to change the name back to vmk4?

can you try login to the Provider portal with the IP of one of the VCD cells? if it works, then check the Public Address (settings > Public addresses) configured with the right URLs (the URLs with correct FQDNs). The FQDN is the portal address which points to the VIP of VCD cells. Also ensure the certificate installed in VCD has the necessary information (CN, SAN etc).  Also check the following two KBs. "Failed to Start: An error occurred during the initialization" error when trying to access vCloud Director after updating public addresses (79183) (vmware.com) "Failed Start: An error occurred during initialization" error while accessing the vCloud Director H5 provider and tenant UI (75305) (vmware.com)

Hi There, Is it a new environment? was there any change done on configurations recently?  Please check the vCD log 'vcloud-container-debug.log' in /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/logs for any errors.  Also, please check the access to Transfer folder and the free space available in Transfer nfs mount. Sometimes vCD behaves weird when the cells can't access the Transfer mount or the Transfer share is full.

Our all flash vSAN environments are on 10GB Base-T network.  I couldn't find best practice articles on vSAN Network design which compares 10GbE Fiber cs 10GbE Base-T. The vSAN network design guide doesnt say to not to use copper. But definitely you can reach out to VMware and ask their recommendation. https://storagehub.vmware.com/t/vmware-vsan/vmware-r-vsan-tm-network-design/

not at all, glad that the issue is resolved. yeah, its good to try restarting VCSA services for such issues, most of the time it works.
you may be able to use VPP points against training. Its good to check with your VMware accounts team or vpp@vmware.com.

Hi, welcome to the community! The configuration you mentioned looks good for the lab. You can install ESXi on the disk and a partition of the same disk can be used as VMFS datastore for storing VMs/vmdks. To share files between VMs there are multiple methods, as you said using nfs/smb is one of them. Pls refer this KB for more details VMware Knowledge Base The key vSphere features like vMotion, HA, DRS etc require shared storage with more than one host. An ideal production environment will contain at least two hosts with shared storage or vSAN. -SD [vExpert 14-19,VCIX6-NV&DCV,RHCE] https://pingforinfo.com https://twitter.com/sreejeshd

in one of the previous threads we've discussed this issue. It seems there is a compatibility issue between 9.5 and NSX-T 2.3 though it says supported in Interop Matrix. I would suggest you to open a ticket with GSS for assistance. If 9.7 is an option for you then please go for it. It works with NSX-T 2.3. Please refer this thread .Issue in Configuring vCloud 9.5 with NSX-T2.3.
