ESXi 6.0 3620759 (u2) VM template win2012 r2 hw version 10 I often clone this template to use obtain identical VM copies to use for training purposes. Today a bad surprise: the win2012 VM doesn't start anymore but gets the error: YOUR PC RAN INTO A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO RESTART, then the blue screen to CHOOSE AN OPTION. Since I did not change anything inside the guest or inside the host I really do not understand why I ran into this problem. I made some research founding KB 2092807 but upgrading to HW11 and adding monitor_control.enable_softResetClearTSC = True Doesen't solve my issue. Please, any idea?
thanks

Hi I have a 3 hosts vSAN cluster and my vms are deployed with FTT=1. Now I assum that VM1 is deployed with a vmdk copy in host1, the second copy in host2 and the witness in host3. If I loose host1 and 3 my VM is dead. The question is: there's a way to restore the data since I have a full vmdk in host2 ? If I add 2 new hosts, the second vmdk and the witness are automatically created ? Thanks in advance vmb

Hi everyone, I need to install a vSAN on a PowerEdge R740XD equipped with 1 SSD for caching and 2 HDD for capacity. Now I am considering to use a USB to boot ESX or to add a new HDD. My question is: if I use an entire HDD, can I share the same controller with the other capacity disk? Is there any best practices? HDD or USB? Thank you

Hi everyone, a client of mine has asked me a question wich I didn't have an answer...so I'll try to ask here to see if someone can help me. So, suppose I have 3 node cluster and one node goes offline (or dead) .... All the unavailable (or lost) data has a mirror copy to the other survivors hosts (all policy are FTT1).... the question is: if a virtual machine writes new data, this new data are replicated between the two hosts? I know that if I have more than 2 host the vsan waits 60 minutes and after begin to creare a new copy of data... but if I have just 2 hosts, what happens? Thank you all!

I've an environment with a vcloud director, a vcenter, 2 different clusters: clusterA and clusterB Each cluster give resources to a different providerVDCs: clusterA to providervdcA and clusterB to providervdcB Both the providersVDCs contain, orgs,  orgVDCs, vapps and so on. Now I need to move clusterB (and providervdcB,  orgs, vapps...)  to a new vcenter and a new vcloud director. Which is the procedure to do it ?

In my environment I have a server 2012 with IIS role  and UMDS . UMDS download correctly the patches from internet, I export the patches to the IIS folder VUM, installed on another server, is configured to download  patches  from IIS and it correctly downloads the definitions. After creating a baseline, I attach it to one of my host but when I try to remediate it I get: cannot download software packages from patch source. It seems that VUM is able to download patch definitions from IIS but it's not able to download the patches. Any idea? Thanks in advance

In my environment I have a server 2012 with IIS role  and I created a folder named UMDS in the root directory of IIS. Now I'm installing UMDS on the same server. and I wish to  configure UMDS to download directly into that folder in order to avoid the UMDS donwload in a folder and the export in another folder on the same server. Is it possible to do it ?

vSphere Syslog Collector and vSphere ESXi Dump Collector are two services included in vecnetr server 6.5 to collect syslog and dumps sent from ESXi servers. My 2 questions are: 1) Are the syslog and dumps replicated by vCenter High Availability to the passive vcenter? 2) Are the syslog and dumps backed up by the Native vCenter Server Backup function ? Thanks in advance and regards MB
thanks. your answer is correct and useful.

Hi, I'm using vSphere 6.5 with a content library populated with s windows 2012 template. In the vceneter customization spec manager I've created a specification that has to prompt me fro an IP. If I deploy a VM from a template NOT in library, using the customization decribed obove, it correctly prompts me for the IP address If I deploy a VM from a template in library, using the customization decribed obove, it DO NOT prompts me for the IP address Any idea? Hi, I'm not a network guy so, probably, it is a silly question. Please, be patient. Using the IP HASH load balancing policy the vswitch will Choose an uplink based on a hash of the source and destination IP addresses of each packet. That's clear but the vswitch is a layer2 device not a layer3 so how can ht see the IP address into the packet? Thanks in advance VMB
