Hi All, I have a vCenter 5.1 that was installed and configured before my time joining the company. The Single Sign On was installed and service is running. The Web client was not installed as part of the initial installation. If I try to install Web client it is asking for SSO credentials. Unfortunately name and password is unknown. I found article that talks about resetting the password but it does not help my situation since I don't know the username as well. What is my best bet here? re-install SSO and give the new credentials and then install web client. Anything to be aware of by uninstalling SSO and re-installing it? Thanks in advance

Hi All, Planning to virtualize databases on vSphere 5.5. If I would to assign one to one core relationship it would be around 108 cores total. Is there a guidance on CPU capacity planning for ESXi host? Thanks,
Thank you, all
moving VMs from one storage to another only does 2 concurrent connections. As I understand ESXi5,.0 should support up to 8 with 10GB. Is there configuration setting to tweak? Thanks
are there any tools/scripts that will help to determine if the CD mounted and if VMware tools are in the installation process?

Hi All, had issues migrating some of the VMs. set the ESXi to maintenance mode. and noticed some of the VMs would not migrate. Tried it manually and got the message on most that vmware tools are installing and cdrom pointed to ISO image on the local ESXi partition. The VM has Datastore ISO file radio button checked pointed to local iso image.Yes, this makes sense to me. Here is what doesn't. I cannot edit virtual machine and the controls are grayed out. all of those were linux guest. i used eject tool and it reset to warning and vMotion worked. So a few questions: 1. does this mean that HA will not work in this state? if yes, any workaround? 2. is there SNMP OID or PowerShell that would let me know if this condition exist?
Can i configure ESXi and vCenter to send only warnings and errors to my external Syslog server?
looks like dual ranked are better. quad will default at 800 with 16GB. thanks

Thank you all for answers. I did not have a chance to update the driver yet. it happened to 2 different hosts. Latest change was to rescan iSCSI that triggered this event.

Hi All, I followed this guide: http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-50-mscs-guide.pdf to setup clutser. Added my first Quorum disk as RDM (virtual), SCSI 1:0. When i add the same disk to my second node, i get this error message when powering on. "An unexpected error was received from the ESX host while powering on VM vm-329. Reason: Failed to lock the file. Cannot open the disk '/vmfs/volumes/4fa9769c-f8aaa808-ee31-00221924bc69/db07/db07_10.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Any ideas?
