I'll check. Just to point out. We can create new VM's its just that we get this message.
Thanks for this. I checked our settings and we do have it in the format in the attached file. Is this a valid format?
Hey Andrei, no. It was a fresh install and the hosts were migrated over. Not sure what you mean by the "old" FlexLM license server? Does it still need to see it?

Guys, we are attempting to set-up custom roles in vCenter. We have created a custom role that allows the user to access the VI client and connect the ISO directly to the VM. If we grant the user VM => Interaction => Configure CD Rom ... then when the user connects the ISO... it immediately disconnects the ISO. The only way we can allow the user to successfully connect the ISO is to also grant Console Interaction. VM => Interaction => Console Interaction We'd prefer not to grant the User Console Interaction rights. Are we doing something wrong here? Any advice would be much appreciated.
No. The virtual machine drops off the network. It cannot be contacted again until lwe reconfigure the "new" NIC.
Thanks for the reply. I was thinking something a little bit more preventative.

Guys, we have an issue where some of our virtual machines lose their IP configuration after a reboot. It seems like the virtual machine adds a new NIC. The virtual machines are Windows 2003 Is there a fix for this? I've seen it many times before and not just on ESX 3.5 U5 (which is the version we are currently running). Any ideas?

Guys, can someone help me get started here? At a glance do I look like I have my figures right? I've almost read every thread here but would like someone to tell me if I'm on the right track. I'm working with our storage guy to see if he can tell me how our disks are configured. I'll post the details when he gets back to me. Any thoughts on the figures below?? Guys, We have situation where the LUNs were presented to out hosts quite some time ago and little of no documentation exisits. The LUN ID that is shown on the ESX host does not match what our SAN guys know as the LUN ID's that are presented to out hosts. What methods can we use to track down and match up the "host" LUN ID's to the SAN? I've given the SAN guys the WWPN of the HBA's but the problem is that we have lots of LUN's and they are all identically sized. Any thoughts?

Guys, I've configured SUDO on our 2.5.x Host. Does the Host need to be restarted for SUDO to take effect? I configure SUDO successfully on our 3.5 Hosts but I was in a position to restart them. The 2.5.x Host has SUDO configured but I can still exectue commands without issuing sudo and SU still works although its restrcited in our SUDO file. I can't reboot the 2.5.x Host as vmotion is disabled and there are guest VM's running. Thanks in advance

Hi Ed, thanks for the response. I've attached a copy of my SUDOERS file. I appreciate that there is a quite a lot in here but my organization is asking for a standard configuration across many platforms and we therefore need to include the aliases. One of the things that "they" are asking for is for me to use the noexec parameter and I'm having a little difficulty making sure I comply. Can you offer me any advice? In the meantime I'll continue with my research.

I'm familiar with using the esxcfg-auth --enablead command in ESX and have successfully implemented it in a few environments. I was asked a question by our security team that I wasn't able to answer. What level of encryption is used to pass the credentials/password back to the ESX host when it authenticates a user against Active Directory? Can anyone offer and advice or point me to an article that will help me get a better understanding of this?

I need to configure SUDO to allow two sets of specific users to log-on to the Service Console. They are ESX Server Administrator and ID Management. I've got a handle on how I can allow the ESX Server Administrator access, but I'm unsure of how I give the minimum amounts of rights to the ID Administrator. I'm thinking that the process I'd like to use for the ID Administrator is to only allow them to run a specific "UserAdd or UserRemove" bash script. Can anyone offer any advice on how I should configure SUDO to allow the ID Administrator group to only run a specific script/scripts. I'm looking to learn so I'll carry on doing some research in the meantime. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Thanks guys. You confirmed what I was thinking. Much Appreciated
Thanks. Updating etc/skel/.bash_profile with the path statement has worked.
