Lots of people grew up with the vSphere Client, which is also known as the C# client, but VMware has been replacing it with vSphere Web Client (Flash). With 6.5 the new vSphere Client HTML5 was introduced. Now the Flash client is being replaced by this new HTML5 client. In 6.7, HTML5 client is not fully featured and the Flash client is still required for certain workflows, but expect it to be replaced by HTML5 in the near future. It is nice that we no longer need a separate exe to manage the environment. Some good overall info on 6.7 here: Introducing vCenter Server 6.7 - VMware vSphere Blog

If you're certain you don't have an existing vCenter named 'vcenter' can you use the switch --overwrite to proceed?
Any error messages? Is anything grayed out preventing you to start the VM?
Are there any known issues with HP BL460 G9 and vSphere 6.5 U1? Also BL460 G8?
Is there an update to FreeNAS? Can you update your firmware?

Majority of our servers are HP BL460 G7,9. I heard G7 has had some issues. Has anyone else seen this issue with vSphere 6.5 Update 1?
I've heard VMware is suppose to release their own fix this coming week.
None that I know of. 6.5 Update 1 is the latest that I know of, but that's GA.
Agree with Magneet. Remove and re-add. Benefit of vDS.
Have you checked the hardware compatibility list?

If you're looking at running this in a lab, you can look at William Lam's site. He has multiple OVAs of both ESXi and vCenter. http://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2017/05/updated-nested-esxi-6-0u3-6-5d-virtual-appliances.html
This is very interesting to me. We plan on moving to 6.5U1 soon with very similar hardware (HP BL460 G9). Does VMware thinks its there issue or an issue with the hardware? Thanks!
Can you vMotion the VM? Are there any snaps?
Do you have an array at both locations?

Awesome! Glad it's up and running. Have fun in the lab!
