Hi, i have 4 serves with the following config: vmnic0 - lacp partner 1 - vds1 vmnic1 - portmirror source nic - vds1 vmnic8 - lacp partner 2 - vds1 vmnic9 - portmirror dest nic. - vds2 i have created the following port mirror sessions on vds1: Session name test_mirror_src Session type Remote Mirroring Source Status Enabled Normal I/O on destination ports Allowed Encapsulation VLAN ID 636 Preserve original VLAN No Mirrored packet length -- Sampling rate Mirror 1 of 1 packets Source: the vds port of the source vm Dest: vmnic1 i have created the following port mirror dest on vds2: Session name test_mirror_dest Session type Remote Mirroring Destination Status Enabled Normal I/O on destination ports Allowed Mirrored packet length -- Sampling rate Mirror 1 of 1 packets Source: VLANID 636 Dest: the vds port of the dest vm on the switch side the network team configured vlan 636 to be "monitoring" (it's already works on old system) and included vmnic1+9 and the nics that play this game... i can't see anything going on the dest vm with wireshark (i'm pinging between 2 vms connected to the source port group). am i missing anything with the LACP configuration? Thanks Mordechai

hi i have a strange issue with some of my esxi servers. hardware is HPE Synergy SY480-gen10 (hpe spp 2022.11.01) with esxi 7.0.3, 20328353. i had few vms that got stunned while the backup software created a snapshot. when i tried to get the vm logs from the datastore i couldn't download them so i connected to the esxi from ssh. when i ran df -h command, it took about 10 minutes to reply back, and most the datastores where in size 0 (while in the vc the are ok) [root@esxka38:~] df

hi, i have vcsa 7u3i in linked mode with another vcsa same version. when i go to vami update page on the first server i get an empty list, but in the other vc i can see the 7u3j version avaiable. on the "bad" vcsa when i do check updates i get an error "Check the URL and try again." on the second server it spins and then show the latest avaiable version to update. the update url on both vc's is the devault: https://vapp-updates.vmware.com/vai-catalog/valm/vmw/8d167796-34d5-4899-be0a-6daade4005a3/7.0.3.01100.latest the proxy on both vc's is the same without any blocks it worked before when i upgraded from vcsa 7u2 to 7u3c and then to g, but for the i version i needed to download the patch iso and install that way. can you point me to whatever might cause this? "bad" vc: "good" vc: thanks mordechai

so i configured the promiscuous mode, forget transmit and when i deploy everything from scratch (after running the erase_fileservice_config.py script) i can ping all the ip's but for a very short time . after that the process fail with the same errors... just something i forgot to mention, this is done on my nested test enviroment (as i cannot "play" with it on my production VCF). all nested networks works ok, vsan and vmotion are internal on the esx that host all the vms (vc, esx and witness).

hi, I'm trying to enable vSan File Services for both SMB and NFS. When setting NFS only everything works fine. When setting with SMB i get the following error: The File service is not available, because the file service domain is not successfully created. Click the edit button to create the file service domain again. I prepared the following: 1. created AD OU specific for vsan (root/vcsa7/vsan-fs) 2. created dns entries for the EAM vms (forward and reverse) 3. created a user account that has full control on the OU (basically every user in our AD can register new computers) 4. reserved IP's for the EAM vms in my DHCP vCenter version: Version:7.0.3 Build:20150588 Esxi version: VMware ESXi, 7.0.3, 20036589 Our AD level is 2008. i can't figure out why i get the error. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Mor Edit: i see that the EAM vms are not being configured with the IP address i set up. that makes sense not being able to reach the AD... but why? any logs i can search for?
Hey Greg, thanks for this additional help. setting the log dir to another partition solved the issue for me. i think mod should mark this also as answer

hi, we recently upgraded our env (2 psc + 2 vc in linked mode) from 6.5u2 with external psc to 6.7u3 and then convereged the psc into the vc. now i have issues with the certificates of the vc servers that still show the old psc's in the certificate, thus creating sso problems with vrops (even after i replaced the authentication source to point to the vc's), and i cannot login the vrops using sso (only with admin@vsphere...) i want to know my options. do i live like this and just swallow the frog? should i replace the certificates with new self signed internal one? should i generate certificate using our company internal CA (ad ca service)? anything else? thanks mordechai
