I don't wish to configure any new alarm definitions (not yet anyway) just have the same alarms that I see in vcenter console, be sent to me by email. How do I do it?  Thanks for the help.

Hi, We have a test site with a single ESXI host, that is still under construction. Sometimes workers on site need to power off the server to work on the electricity. Since they don't have access to the server itself, they press the power button. We would like that when this happens all VM's will shutdown properly and only then will the host will power down. Is this possible to achieve?  Edit- I know that it  possible to configure the machines to shutdown gracefully before the host- my real question is towards triggering the process with the power button

Hi. I have been following the instructions at: Edit Virtual Machine Startup and Shutdown Settings I am trying to set my machines to start up together with the host (unless specifically disabled) However, new machines created do not automatically start with the host and require manually configuring (at per-machine override section). ESX + vCenter version = 6.7 what am I missing?

Hi. Just discovered that hot-plug\hot-add feature requires a license (ridiculous! :smileyangry:). Anyway, the feature is not critical for us, but I wanted to find out which license version have the feature included anyway (for future purchases \ renewals \ etc). I couldn't find any mention of it in any of the version comparison tables on the vmware store. Is the feature part of a "feature pack"? (in other words, under what name should I see it in the comparison table) under what license will these features be available?
Hi, I am trying to create a custom sysprp answer file to use for auto deployment however I want the file to use the VM name for the computer name. Is there a way to achieve this?

Hello. I have a vm that keeps failing to backup. checking the error received by the backup software "encountered more than one virtual machine disk with the same UUID". I don't know much about the 'under the hood' of vmware, but by the name of it (UUID) I know it should be unique. however the vm itself is working with no problem at all. Digging into this subject, I started checking out the UUID of all of our vmdk files (from all vm's). using powercli- I found that we have quite a few duplicate UUID between different machines (vmdk only, not vm). I also noticed that both of the vmdk disks used by my backup failing machine have no UUID. I started searching Google and reading about the subject. I found that also the vm themselves have UUID that is used to generate the mac numbers and such, I found also about the option 'disk.EnableUUID' which I didn't understand what it does, but it is enabled on the vm that is failing to backup. (I didn't check other machines) in short I am still very unclear about the subject. here are some questions I have to start with: how terrible is it having duplicate UUID? does the severity of duplicate UUID changes between vm UUID and vmdk UUID? if it is very terrible, why is the backup software the only thing that seems to care about this issue? what else (if there is any) has an UUID number? what can I do about duplicate UUID's? (how do I fix it?) what is the option 'disk.EnableUUID' used for? we disabled ssh on the esxi servers and manage everything through our windows based vcenter server with vsphere client and powercli. do I still need to use the vmkfstools to solve our issues, or that vsphere client and powercli are enough? can I use vmkfstools (if needed) from our vcenter server? thanks in advance for the help PS sorry if I misplaced the discussion.. there are way too many topics, and the fact that almost everything sound like the same thing is just confusing.

Thanks for the helpful reply's. I followed MauroBonder‌ instructions, and it seems it got the adapter back to work (state is collecting and collection status is data receiving) However metrics and graphs are still left un-updated. looking at one of the dashboards I noticed it wasn't collecting: so I decided to reboot the appliance- when it came back up- the adapter collection state was back on being stuck on "starting" and collection status was back to "none" what now?

No, like I said I am very new to vrops, so up until now I didn't even know about the vcenter adapter. can I add it as another adapter or do I have to replace the old one? are there any possible consequences I should be worried about? (I don't know like what - deletion of custom dashboards?) in anycase I tested the connection and test was successful, but the collection state is stuck on "starting"

Hello, I recently updated our vRealize Appliance following these articles: How To Patch Or Upgrade VMware VRealize Operations Manager (vROps) ? | Settlersoman - A Settler In The SDDC World. and Upgrading vRealize Operations – that virtual boy. When following the instruction I was faced with the question of which version to download- with windows based remote collectors or without. after consulting on the forum (Updating vrops appliance - what should I do regarding remote collectors?) I ended up upgrading with: vRealize Operations Manager - Virtual Appliance Operating System upgrade - vRealize_Operations_Manager-VA-OS-6.2.0.3542056.pak vRealize Operations Manager - Virtual Appliance upgrade (without Windows based RC) - vRealize_Operations_Manager-VA-6.2.0.3528954.pak After the upgrade we noticed that vrops did not receive any updates from our vcenter (version 6.0.0 3339083 installed on windows server), The graphs, badges and metrics either are unavailable, with old values or just empty : I must admit I don't understand all that much about vrops. I mainly use some of the dashboards here and there to troubleshoot different errors, but I started poking around and got to this screen from administration > cluster management, and from it, it seems that vrops lost connection with our vcenter: I took a snapshot before upgrading- but I was told it may not work since the upgrade updates the database as well. what should I do?
