There are several things you might look at. One thing you might try is to go into the Policy Definitions, and edit the Metrics and Properties. You may be able to disable the metric/property that is causing the alert. You might also look at your Inventory and place the specific object that is the problem into maintenance mode. Create a Do Not Monitor policy, turn off all alerts for the policy, set the priority as #1. Then create a custom group where the group membership contains those objects you don't want to monitor.
vROPS should discovery any hosts as long as they are showing up in vSphere.

If the canned Cluster Capacity Dashboard or the Capacity Summary Dashboard don't work for you, I'd suggest that you check out VMIgnite. He's posted a number of useful dashboards that should cover what you're after and then some. http://www.vmignite.com/2021/02/vrops-vsphere-health-checker-dashboard-2-0/   I believe he also has most of his dashboards on code exchange as well. https://code.vmware.com/samples?id=5639#

Check the marketplace out for the vROPS management packs. https://marketplace.cloud.vmware.com/ I know the True Visibility management packs had a SQL pack, but I thought that may be moving to a more generally available pack. Also, you may see what options Service Discovery has for you.

We had a similar problem. It wasn't with vROPS, it was due to AD not allowing service accounts to send to DL's.

I've done something like what you're trying to do You'll need to create some super metrics and views for this. Super Metric Total Active Storage usage sum(Virtual Machine: Guest File System|Utilization) This needs to be the sum of Total Disk Usage for all VMs in custom group. Total Active Memory Usage sum of group memory util Total Active CPU Usage sum of group CPU demand This requires 3 widgets due to the 3 views. Your view will need to use the Distribution under Presentation with the Pie Chart visualization selected. Subjects tab: <custom group> containing our specific VMs. Data tab: Select data for <subject tab info> Metric: Select your super metric (mem,CPU,storage) Using the View (Pie) widget. Config tab: refresh content set to On, Refresh Interval is 300 seconds, Self Provider set to On. Input Data tab: Inventory trees : All Objects Object: <custom group name> Object Type: Environment Output Data tab: Select <custom view> one for each CPU, Mem, Disk util

We ran into a similar issue several months ago, but that was on v8.1 or 8.2. We ended up opening a support request for this. What we eventually found was that on at least one of our servers was that the cluster name was incorrect. VMware had us run a script and do some file modifications. I'm not sure of the exact steps off hand though.

We have installed the telegraf agent on a new server (Agent v8.3.0.567) and are trying to configure a remote http check. Instance Settings Display Name: Test Check URL: https://vrops.fqdn.com Method: head No other settings are configured. When I try and save the instance, I receive the following message.  "Unexpected error occurred. Please try again bit later." This error occurs every time I try and save the config. Has anyone else run into this? I wasn't sure about the method. We just need to check to make sure that the webpage is active.

I've not looked into this much yet, but in VLI, under Administration > Integration > vRealize Operations , there is a check box for "Enable metric calculation" The help text for this is "When enabled, Log Insight can optionally calculate and send metrics to vRealize Operations Manager. Metrics can be automatically mapped to a vRealize Operations Manager object based on a Log Insight field (e.g. hostname)."

Try this to get you started. Create Dashboard, select Alert List. Edit Widget Under Output Filter, Basic, select Object Types. Select Virtual Machines This will give you alerts for all VMs. Then under the Advanced Section, you can filter by additional Object Type Info. Also, under the Alert Related section, you can filter by Alert Type, Status, Criticality, etc. You may want to start here after you set the Basic settings.

Hello, We have a server that appears to have some old/unused file server mounts on it that are no longer mounted or used. These mounts showup under the Linux OS device. I was looking at the epop agent log file today and see these mount points are throwing lots of errors. ( system.avail:Type=MountedFileSystemUsage,Arg=/mnt/test1 Failed to invoke getMountedFileSystemUsage ) I thought these could be removed by deleting them from under the server object or from inventory by using the identifier under the Identifier 1 column for the EP Ops Agent. This does not appear to be an option. Is there another way to remove those previously discovered mounts or would redeploying the agent be the way to go? This is for vROPS 8.0.1

We're getting started with Orchestrator and have identified a need to track our last SQL backups. We've got the query to pull the info and have a test workflow created that is executing successfully and retrieving several rows of data. How do we import the data from the the workflow to create a dashboard or report in vROPS? We're currently using VRA 8 and vROPS 8. VMware vRealize Orchestrator Mgmt pack 3.1.14 is also installed. Thanks.

Login as your administrative user. Go to the Admin tab and look under Management for the Orphaned Content. You may find the missing dashboards there. You can also go to the Dashboards tab, and look under Actions for Manage Dashboards. Try and search there to see if they may be owned by a different user. If so, you may need to Clone those dashboards.
