is there any way to reapply the global change of a timeout value to individual VM's other then unprotecting them all and reprotecting? For example, the VMware tools timeout, if I adjust after protecting a bunch of VM's it seems like if I want to reflect the new value I have to unprotect and reprotect?
saty25 you ever come to a resolution on this?  am seeing it on one of my hosts

Recently upgraded to 5.8.1. and am attempting to take advantage of the new IP Rules and am noticing during some test recoveries that VM's are getting the same IP addresses assigned to them.  Its only happening in 20 % of the cases, but am at a loss as to why its assinging the same to different VM's. Just curious if anyone else has experience this?
I've seen an increase in these messages as well since upgrading to version 5.8.1, its getting frustrating
looking for different ways to re-ip a solaris 11 VM after bringing it up in an environment where layer 2 isn't the same as production.
Thanks @mark.j this particular VM has 4GB of memory.  I agree with you though JimKnopf99 user wants more memory, vcops says take away and demand is low.

Looking for some advice on areas to look @.  I have the following: If I look into the spike, I don't see much write or read latency back to disk from this vm: latency is relatively low but if I look @ I/O wait for that same period seems high, just trying to understand what else I might want to look into?  seems that IO wait could become an issue.  Should mention this is a 2008R2 windows box, running SQL server.  LSI logic for storage controller

I'm constantly running into situations where VCOPS will tell me that from an active memory persprective a VM is happy, but if you look @ the actual VM its not happy, example below: And in this case, VMware suggests we look to remove 3.2 GB and although I understand its not always gospel I need someone to help explain to me where I should go with these types of situations and how to better interpret the true usage and if more memory is required.

i'm hoping to understand how i can get vcops to alert me about disk space issues on a vm prior to the VM actually being out of disk example below: it would be nice to have some threshold that if passed it would send this message when say at 90/95% full vs 100%

Thanks DavoudTeimouri, the issue I'm seeing is it will work in my case when I have a VM @ HW level 9 even though EVC isn't in the mix and intel architecture of CPU's is different.

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone.  I'm well aware of the EVC mode benefits, and what it means not to have it enabled and thats why I'm so confused. vickyvision2020 in regards to your questions: 1)  Version of ESX hosts is the same across each of the two clusters: Source Host in Cluster A: Destination Hose in Cluster B: 2)  big difference in generation of CPU as seen above 3)  Yes, DRS is enabled on the destination cluster 4)  In my example, I've been moving everything to TSTESX06 on the source cluster (then performing vmotion) because it's a member of the destination distributed virtual switch. Understood about always running latest hardware version, i'ts been slow since all my vm's end us creating a new NIC each time I upgrade hardware, so I have to go through the exercise of fixing that each time.  From what I can tell, its a bug when going from HW4 to anything newer. The bottom line question is why is it working with HW9 as I wouldn't expect it to work regardless since CPU levels are soo different in terms of age

I trying to understand how I'm able to vMotion from ClusterA (HP Proliant G5 hardware) to ClusterB (Cisco UCS Hardware) without issue when a VM is @ hardware level 9, each cluster is sharing the same set of datastores. If I attempt to perform the same test with a VM that's running hardware level 4 I get the message I would expect to see regardless: But if I were to upgrade this same VM to hardware level 9 it would run vMOtion without issue.  I feel like its a newbie question, but I'm stumped.
I have several datastores that are no longer around buy vcops still shows them as white boxes in some screens related to storage.  Anyone have an idea on how I can get rid of them?

it would appear that the webclient integration with VCOPS isn't working.  I don't dialysis a health tab, or and badge information when viewing in webclient: Not sure if these is something I can try re-registering within vcops?  adding/removing vcenter object from vcops registration?
Yeah, your dead on about the navigating between object, can't believe IE actually act more consistent than chrome
Thanks, something goofy with chrome, have similar display issues at times with other sites, should of assumed, thanks @gradinka
Should I see a chart under the headings? It would seem like I should see a graph of some kind but don't.  This is looking through the csharp client.
