Actually what I want to alert on is ONLY when the ESX Host is completely off meaning unpingable. I was really trying to avoid using the ping adapter to accomplish this BUT it is practical to do so because if the ESX Host is completely offline, there's no way to retrieve metrics related to the ESX Host for alerting. We will give the ping adapter a go and see what perspires!

Oh also, just as part of what I have tried, I used the new PING monitoring feature in 8.4, BUT I did notice two things that were an issue: 1. After enabling the PING feature for all hosts for over a week, I come back to check on some hosts under object detail, it doesn't populate the PING details, hence when you check the Metrics, you don't get the Ping Statistics metrics 2. For the Ping Statistics metrics, I am getting additional IPs other than just the management IP such as VLAN IP etc, so I would not be able to use this either for my up/down. I probably would have used the Packet Loss % when it is 100%, BUT there are multiple IPs here and I would be unable to use this metric.

Hello Community, I am head over heels for this one. I have been trying to setup alert that would give me valid up/down alerting in vROPs for all my ESXi Hosts. I have tried using the Power State and Connection metric in Properties > Runtime, but when I powered down a host to test this, the value for Power State came back as "Unknown" and Connection value was "disconnected". I thought maybe the Power State value of "unknown" would suffice, BUT I then checked another host that was not powered down but had just lost connection to vCenter and was still pinging, this Power State value was also "Unknown" so figured I can't use this metric. Has anyone successfully setup an up/down alert in vROPS for ESX Hosts? Please let me know how you got it done.

Just trying accessing one of my Log Insight instances today. I am on version 8.4 It was slow to load the login welcome page. After about 30secs, I tried logging on with admin password, it stalls for a bit and shows "Unable to authenticate user" However, the 2 worker nodes that I have with the same admin/password works just fine. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Jimmy - Unless you are referring to somewhere else, it clearly shows -c and not -s after postgres. Please let me know.
Error changed to "no such file or directory"
I tried with a space and then without a space after the forward slash Too many arguments
Yes I am using SSH to run the command, but the problem is that I am getting a permission denied. Help! FYI, the vROPs successfully upgraded to 8.4 but now the cluster is stalling to come online.

Do you have one I could run?
Is there a script to purge alerts and alarms? Actually I found the command line to clear these. I will let you know. Thanks so much for your help Jimmy!

I was doing some research on the waiting on analytics, do you think its possible that there is an index rebuild going on behind the scenes that's delaying the cluster to come back online. I was of the assumption that things such as alerts and alarms would not really affect it as much and/or just resurface.

Hi, We just came across a need in our environment which requires us to update the Machine and Solution User certificates before they expire. However, this is done on the Platform Services Controller end. Wondering if: 1. vROPs can have solution adapters that can see inside each PSC and then have metrics to view data on expiration dates? 2. If vROPs can actually capture PSC metrics without using a custom adapter. See sample image below:

Seeing that I have the same issue with the .NET unhandled exception. I was running vROPs 6.6 and View Adapter 6.5.1 with the broker agent 6.5.1 also. Just this past two weeks I have been having the issue. What made me realize it was that a couple of PODs were not reporting the usual number of connected sessions. So I decided to just upgrade my vROPs to 6.7 and View Adapter to 6.6 with the broker agent to 6.6 as well. However, when attempting to install the 6.6 broker agent, it just doesn't run at all. When I run the previous 6.5 .exe, it runs. What do you guys think the issue is? NOTE: The server is already running .NET 4.7  which is over the recommended 4.6.2.

Hi, I upgraded our vROPs environment to 7.5 last week and now all my vCenters which are 5.5 have a collection status of "Object Down" I attempted removing one of the vCenters adapters and re-adding it, now I get a Collection State of "Failed" on that adapter. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hi Community, I am not sure if anyone can help me with this before I put in an official SR with vmware. So we have a couple of connection servers that have the broker agent installed which are our View Pods. We have had issues with the broker agent service using most of the RAM and in addition, the database team have complained about SQL deadlocks and blocking occurring. Those blocking are gone when I stop the broker agent service. I know this cannot be the fix because I definitely need the service on to record Horizon connected sessions metrics etc. The below is on the SQL database server managing one of the connection servers. Is anyone experiencing this kind of issue? Please advise. Thanks in advance.
