Hi ! I have 4 VMs having around 300 vmsn files 20KB big. I would like to know how can I get rid of these files ? There's NO SNAPSHOT in the SNAPSHOT MANAGER, so why I have so much files like that and why the system don't delete them if there no more snapshot associated ? There's a recipe to clean a VM FOLDER under VMFS to get the free space ? Any help will be appreciate.

Ummm ... the thing is : I opened a SR with VMware ... No result. I look to this forum, many people complain about this situation, but no ones have a solution. At this point, I gave my solution, even if it's not the better one, it works. I agree the investigation could be interesting, but, VMware investigated this situation and after 4 weeks waiting, my server still continu to crash and you know when your CRM server who's also your SQL server at the same time .... where too many softwares connected on it, you can't crashed every 2 days.. So after a while, i need a solution and this solution that I found was the one a gave in this post. Thanx for your concern.

Hi ! I confirmed with you Leonard. We did a lot of "homemade P2V" with Netware 4.11, 5.x, 6,x with Portlock Storage Manager. The only you need to need after Portlock did the transfert is you need to change the driver for SCSI controller for LSIMPTNW.HAM and than the network adapter for CNEAMD driver + VMware Tools. Follow the step Leonard posted : Virtualizing Novell Netware 4.11 Well describe step by step. Good post Leonard.

Hi all ! Recently I got a problem with 2 VMs on ESX 3.5 from time to time, I tried to access these VMs and I got the error VMX connection handshake failed for mks of /vmfs/volumes/ ... All the time the both same VMs. Tried : 1) Power Off and Power On the VM : No Success 2) Reboot the ESX : Works for a while and then start again after a couple of days with the same error. Solution : 1) Create a New Virtual Machine 2) At the HARD DRIVE specification choose : No Hard Drive. 3) Go to ESX command line and then CLONE the problem VMDK with this command : My problem server is called : CRM and the new server is called : NEWCRM Exemple : vmkfstools -i /vmfs/volume/vmfiles/CRM/CRM.vmdk /vmfs/volume/vmfiles/NEWCRM/CRM.vmdk 4) After the VMDK is finished to be cloned, go in EDIT SETTING of the NEW VM and then ADD A HARD DRIVE. 5) Browse to VMFILES/NEWCRM/CRM.vmdk 6) Power on the NEWCRM server. 7) If everthing is going well then DELETE FROM DISK the problematic VM. Hope this will help you guys.

Hi, During a reconfiguration of one of my VM regarding RDM, i got a problem with my network during that time. So the reconfiguration wasn't completed properly. After that, I tried to add RDM to my VMs and I got a error saying the file already exist. Ex : xxxxx._3.rdm.vmdk. I renamed the file xxxxx._3.rdm.vmdk to xxxxx._3.rdm.vmdk.old and then I was able to add my RDM to my VM properly. My question : Can I delete xxxxx._3.rdm.vmdk.old without any problems ? I know it's only a "POINTER" to my LUN but I don't want to make any stupid things. Thanx for your great help. Eric.

Hi I'm a newbie with VI3. I have probably a stupid question ... but I need an answer ... My subnet at the office is 192.168.50.0 / 24 When I look under VIClient under Configuration Tab / Networks Adapters ... Under my VMNIC0 i see Networks : 192.168.50.142-192.168.50.142 \!!! Why is like that ? I should see 192.168.50.1-192.168.50.254 ?? Any explication will be appreciated. Thanx Eric
