Hello, I recently upgraded VMware vSphere 6.7 U3 to 7.0. Found out last week that  full VM backup using CommVault was failing. As I was troubleshooting the issue, I found out that  I was not able to take a snapshot of any of the VMs in the cluster either from the vCenter web client or directly from the host UI. Error " An error occurred while saving the snapshot. An error occurred while taking a snapshot: Error. I've opened up  a ticket with VMware support but they are too slow in responding. I am checking if anyone has encounter this issue in their environment or if experts would point me to the right direction. Thanks,
@kingsxw You saved my day. Thank you.

Hello, I am going to add 10G dual port adapter to all the ESXi hosts in the cluster. Should I use these for VM Network or vMotion traffic? Initially bought these adapters to be used for vMotion because when  I was putting the host in maintenance mode some VMs migrating to different hosts would lose some pings and these VMs host sensitive applications.  Would adding 10G to vMotion traffice resolve the issue that I am encountering? Thanks,
Thanks Diego. It was an iso on datastore attacched to the vm.

Hello, I am in the process of upgrading firmware on the storage arrays. I've to two storage arrays attached and under two different datastore cluster (Datastore Cluster 1 & DataStore Cluster2). I did all the vms storage migration to the Datastore Cluster2 successfully except vCenter Server Appliance (vcsa) vm. I am also able to migrate vCSA vm to the DataStore Cluster2 successfully but  vCSA vm still shows up under VM when I go to Datastore Cluster 1.  vCSA vm's setting shows VM working location as Datastore Cluster 2. vCSA VM appears under VM tab in both Datastore Cluster 1 & DataStore Cluster2). Datastore Cluster1 does not hold any of the vcsa vms' file. It is like a ghost sitting there. I hope someone could help me to resolve this issue. Thanks,

Thanks André for your quick response. I will update this thread after I'm done migrating the appliance.

Hello, I am doing hardware refresh and replacing all ESXi hosts on the existing cluster.  My question is, do I add the FC SAN connections before or after installation of ESXi on the hardware?   or does it even matter? I just want this to go smooth. Appreciate your feedback. Thanks,

Defintely, this is not an AD replication issue as my environment is single site with couple of DCs. Also it has been almost a day since this issue started and still the account is getting locked every two or three seconds even when the user is not using the account. I even shutdown his workstation for  a period of time and still during this time account keeps locking up. It is showing the account locked out is coming from vcenter. There is nothing logged on vCenter->Monitor-Events logged. Is there any log on vCenter which will provide me a clue? Thanks,

Hello, Running vCenter Server Appliance 6.5 This morning I changed vCenter SSO Identity Source from Active Directory as an LDAP Server to Active Directory (Integrated Windows Authentication using machine account for security reason. One of the AD user accounts is getting locked out like every 2 seconds. User account getting locked was managing the VMware environment before I came aboard.  All other AD user accounts added to the vCenter are working fine. On the Domain Controller, the sources of the machine that getting the account is vcenter server with its IP address.  I am stuck what to look for and what in vCenter is causing this lockout. Appreciate your help on this issue. Thanks,

Hello, I am preparing for hardware refresh and upgrade to 6.7 update 1 from 6.5 U1. I plan to to replace the hosts first and do the vCSA and esxi host upgrade later. I just have one cluster with three hosts. I am replacing all the esxi hosts with new hosts. I plan to keep all the configuration exactly the same - host name, management ips, luns etc. Here is the plan: 1 . Change DRS setting to manual 2. vMotion VMs from existing host to another host 2. Bakup the ESXi host configuration Backup using this arcticle https://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2013/02/how-to-backup-restore-free-esxi-host.html The configuration file can be downloaded using a web browser or copied to a remote system using scp scp configBundle-[hostname].tgz user@address:/tmp/ 3. Shut down existing host, remove all the NIC and LUNs cables. 4. Connect NIC and LUNs cables to the new host excatly the same as old host. 5. Power on a new host 6. Install ESXi 6.5 U1, rename the host to match the old host and assign the management ip 7. Add the new host to vCenter cluster. 8.  Apply configuration changes to a new host Follow the comments to restore esxi host configration to different esxi host https://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2013/02/how-to-backup-restore-free-esxi-host.html Basically you just have to update the UUID # under Manifest.txt file. Part 1 (1) Backup host config of new esxi host using this article. This will create a file named configBundle.tgz. (2) Copy the tgz file to /tmp folder using cp command. Change directory to /tmp: cd /tmp (3) Extract configBundle.tgz file: tar zxvf configBundle.tgz (4) Open Manifest.txt file and write down the UUID: cat Manifest.txt (5) Remove configBundle.tgz file, Manifest.txt file and state.tgz file using rm command. Part 2 (1) Copy host config file downloaded from step 2 (old host) to /tmp folder under new host. (2) Change directory to /tmp. (3) Extract configBundle.tgz file: tar zxvf configBundle.tgz (4) Open Manifest.txt file using vi and update the UUID with the one you wrote down for Server B. Save the file. (5) Remove or rename configBundle.tgz file under /tmp. (6) tar manifest.txt and state.tgz files: tar zcvf configBundle.tgz Manifest.txt state.tgz (7) run the vim-cmd restore command to restore the config. Reboot the host. 9. Verifiy the configurations. 10. vMotion VMs to new host 11. Follow the same steps on the next new host Wait for couple of days and upgrade to 6.7 Update 1. I would like the experts to chime in if there is any issue with the above upgrade process or if I missed any steps. Thanks,
