Apparently I am doing something wrong still, because I have exhausted all methods I've found and I still get the: Your connection is not private NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID I have gone into /etc/vmware/ssl and grabbed the .crt file and tried to import that into the Trusted Root Certificates for the "Computer Account" and I have also tried to export the certificate (.cer) from Chrome when going to my ESXi page. However, I still get the error. My server's name is esxiserver.home and the certificate shows: Issued to: esxiserver.home Issued by: VMware installer Valid from: 9/13/2017 to 3/14/2029 Any help appreciated. I can still get to the site if I proceed to the unsafe site, but I'd like to remedy this annoyance. Thanks.

If I run an internet speed test from within a VM on that host, I get speeds of ~200mbps, so the NIC is not the issue. I tried using WinSCP to copy a large file from my laptop to the ESXi host and I got the same slow results (~16mbps). I'm baffled.

I currently have my VMs on a NAS, but will be migrating them to local drives on the ESXI server itself. I am trying to copy one of them over, through command line (cp /vmfs/volumes/NAS/(file) /vmfs/volumes/datastore1) and it's transferring at about 17-22mbps. It's a non-crowded 1gbit network, so why is my transfer so slow? If it was just this one single VM, I would write it off, but I have 20 more VMs to migrate and would like to avoid these delays.

I am constantly getting the certificate warning in Chrome when trying to access my Home Lab's vSphere web client. (same warning in IE) I've tried saving off the certificate and importing it, but it doesn't actually appear to import. I've spent a few days going through all the links on how to "fix" this and so far nothing has remedied it. Any help appreciated. According to virten.net (ESXi 6.0 Image for Intel NUC | Virten.net), the drivers are already included. I am using VMXNET 3 for all my VMs. Should I be using E1000 instead?
I forget what site I found the info for ESXi/NUC, but I did use "VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.0.0-2494585.x86_64.iso" and "ESXi-Customizer-v2.7.2". I don't remember doing anything with the drivers...

I don't remember doing anything with the drivers though. I'll check out that page. I had another crash yesterday morning and once again, it takes down my entire wired network. (can't ping other devices)
Would it be a good assumption that because my network becomes unusable when this happens, that this hardware fault is occurring in the network adapter?

Over the past year, my VM box will crash at random times, sometimes months apart. I was on 5.5 and now am running 6.0. The NUC is a 5i7 with 32GB RAM and the datastore is on a Synology NAS. When this crashes, for some reason I am unable to ping anything on my network. As soon as the NUC is restarted, everything is fine. It's strange, but I am more interested in tracking down why ESXi is crashing in the first place. The PSOD tells me Machine Check Exception: Fatal MCE on PCPU3 in world 1388527:vmm0:Visual_ System has encountered a hardware error...... I have a VM named "Visual Studio 2012 - 32 bit" and I am only guessing that error is referring to that VM. I've been playing with this for a while, but green when it comes to troubleshooting it. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Actually, my buddy had this server left over from an old job and gave it to me. I think he used the HP image for it. At the end of the day, it's not a deal breaker because I am looking to upgrade this thing anyway (I have another thread about that), but in the short term, I was trying to figure this out.

A couple more tests today. Fired up a 32-bit Windows 7 machine and copied the ~700MB file. It transferred around 35MB/sec. I am OK with that. Internet speed test, though, would not exceed 70Mbit/sec. Strange. I fired up the Windows XP VM and copied the same file. It copied at less than 10MB/sec again. It is a brand new VM using VMXNET 2. Why on earth will this not transfer at the same speeds as the other VM? CPU utilization showed about 40% during the transfer and network utilization showed 8%. Clearly neither is being taxed to the max so I don't understand the bottleneck.
Yikes, and double what I want to spend, too. I should have also said I prefer a tower because this is going in my home office and I don't have a server rack. Not a deal-breaker though.

In the next 3 or 4 months, I want to replace my ML350G5 with something a little more capable. I run 4 or 5 VMs on a normal basis and could run up to 8 at a given time. I definitely want something with hyperthreading (as the ML350 I run does not have it) and want at least 32GB ram. Also, a brand that has a pre-customized eSXI image is desired. I'd prefer to keep this under $1k if possible.
