Exactly, but we have seen it register just fine, then 10-15 minutes later we noticed several of the VM's drop out of DNS until we manually run /registerdns...  So this is more of a CYA type thing... See more...

No these all have static ip's.  But we are changing the ip addresses on the DR side, so I want to make sure the servers update DNS properly.

In my vSphere 5 U2 environment I am running SRM 5.02 with SAN replication. My question is about post power on scripting.  Since my VM's have to have their IP Addresses changed, I find that I need to manually log in to some systems and run an ipconfig /registerdns. I was wondering if I can just put that in as a post power on script by simply putting in ipconfig /registerdns right in the the "Content" field of the post power on step. Thanks.

Hi, We have a new storage admin that started and I would like him to be able to see path information and storage properties.  I gave him Power User access in the vSphere client but he is unable to "manage paths".  Any idea what permissions I would need to give him?
Ah!  I never used those settings before since I usually have multiple hosts.  Thanks!
RIght.  I know they'll go down, but I was wondering if I needed to enable HA to have the VM's auto start up once the host comes back online.

Hi all, I have a few remote sites with one ESX 5.0 host running a couple VM's. I usually enable HA on the one host cluster so if the host crashed it would start the VM's back up.  Is this necessary on a one host cluster or will a crashed host restart VM's anyway?
I see.  Thank you.
Right, idle sessions.  So vCenter doesn't disconnect them after a certain amount of time?
Anyone else see really old sessions in the vSphere client?  There are so many connections, even my own not too mention other admins' connections...  I have some in there over 30 days old.  Does v... See more...

Thanks!
ok cool.  I'll check it out. Of course this is a replicated volume, so I would most likely need to stop that, increase both sides then re-establish replication...
I'm running 5.0 update 2.
I've never actually expanded a VMFS volume before.  That is creating an extent?
So if I have 34GB or so free I may be ok?  I don't know, I think I may just create a new larger datastore and svmotion it to it.  I was going to create a consistency group on the SAN for replicat... See more...

Hello all, I have a SQL server on a volume that has 184GB free out of a total 1TB.  I need to add an additional 150GB drive to the VM but really didn't want to have to create a new datastore since it's currently on a replicated mirror.  Since this is a SQL server we do not take snapshots so I am wondering, should I just create the 150GB disk and do I need to have a bunch of free space on that datastore?
I do have vCOPS, so I'll take a look in there as well.  Thanks.
