I have a vm that I am trying to migrate to another set of hosts via HCX. That particular vm has several hard disks\vmdk's that have decimal points with their sizes   see picture.  my questions are: has anyone ever changed a drive with a decimal point in it to a whole number? has anyone ever had any impact to the vm?  is it just rounding up to the next whole number and hit apply? (like i have done a billion times before) Or do I have to extend the disk as well for it to be recognized in HCX as no longer a decimal point?     I feel I should be able to round up to the next whole number or what is applicable and hit apply, however, it never hurts to check with others

hello all.  I found this article Change from Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA... - VMware Technology Network VMTN and it makes sense, however, i wanted to verify if i had to remove IWA first and then add LDAPS or can i have IWA still in place, add LDAPS, then remove IWA?    In essences, what is the best process you are fining in your experiences?

this is something that I am going to have to do in the very near future.  the only challenge that this one has for me is that my vsan cluster is only 4 nodes and will be moving to a new vcenter all together.  My question is:  can the same steps be applied with splitting the vsan into two, two node vcenters?

To take this thread to another level, if you have 4 scsi controllers and 4 disks on each controller on a vm.  lets say you are there is a vmdk that is currently identified in windows as disk 4 and vmdk on scsi controller 1:0:0.  for whatever reason, our end user states that no matter what windows disk 4  should always lineup with scsi controller 1:0:0.  So now its patch Tuesday and the vm restarts.  upon restarting this vm, the drive letters and windows disk are  in a completely different order after said restart than before the restart, particularly scsi controller 1:0:0 now shows as windows disk 8, with a different underlying windows disk controller(ie, 160 vs 254) how does one ensure that disk1:0:0 is always(after a restart) windows disk 4 and stay on the same underlying windows disk information?

we are looking at joining our existing infrastructure with vcdr and vmc on aws.  the question that has my org stumped is the routing for the vpn / connection and it goes like this:  if we expose a subnet to the vpn and vmc on aws, lets say 192.168.10.0/24 and have 6 vm's on that subnet, can 3 be powered on and function on prem and can 3 vm's be powered on and functioning on vmc on AWS at the same time?    a second way of asking this question is  does the can you split a subnet,  lets say 192.168.10.0/24,  where half the subnet can live in AWS and the other half live on prem, as well as the gateway for the subnet, live on prem, without extending the on prem network into AWS?

My vrealize network Insight instance is responding very slowly.  It has taken greater than 3 min to get the initial log in page to come up in most cases recently.  Also, when I attempt to log into the web interface, the circle spins on the page for another couple of minutes before taking me back to the log in page.  This happens for the "admin@local" or any other user i try to log in with.   I am going to restart the nodes in an attempt to maybe clear out any issues.   any other thoughts?
I am having the same issue.

Recently, one of my other vcenter admins(with out ill intent) added an account to vcenter global permissions as read only However, that account was already in the global permissions but in an ad group with administrator access. Apparently this caused some conflicts in permissions and some of our applications didn't work correctly because of the conflict.  To that end, I am wanting to look for a script or tool to notify a group of users that a new user or permission has been changed.  I know netwrix does something like this but i think that is more focused on vm's more than vcenter changes.     Thoughts?

Good day.  I am asking for opinions in regarding how to do a packet capture inside a virtual distributed switch.  we have an application that is running on physical hardware and a 1gb network with out very much latency.  the decision was made to take this app virtual so that we could take advantage of our 10gb network and newer hardware.  To that end, we are experiencing a lot of latency on the new virtual environment and the question is arising as to what is going on in the virtual distributed switch as the network team isnt able to view inside it.  We do have vRealize Network insight but not enough licenses at this time nor the switches set up correctly to utilize vRealize Network Insight yet.    any thoughts would be appreciated.

so running the command below actually resolved my issue. Thank you for the help LucD
