I'm considering creating a NVMe 'all flash' SAN for a project I'm working on. I will be building a 3 node ESXi cluster to service a group of Users working with large graphics intense workloads. I would like to use high speed NVMe SSD storage, shared amongst the cluster nodes, as it would be cost prohibitive to use it as local storage on all 3 nodes. Can I load a server with NVMe storage and using vSAN either: a) Have it be an ESXi host, hosting some VM's and sharing it's fast storage with the 2 other ESXi hosts?                                                                                                     b) Have it be a dedicated SAN, not hosting any VM's and sharing it's fast storage with 3 ESXi hosts?

I'm looking at deploying 2 ESXi 6.5 servers (ProLiant DL380 Gen9) with locally attached storage. My questions are: - Can I configure the 2 hosts, so that If 1 node goes down the other node will run all the vm's until the other node is brought back online? - Can I have the 2 nodes backup or mirror each other's local storage, so I don't need to introduce a separate backup solution?

We have a need at my workplace for 4 to 6 users to perform some graphics intensive work, but do it from a standard midrange laptops running Windows 7. Some people here are thinking of using Horizon View for this purpose. That seems to me like a lot of cost and complexity for a handful of users. Is it possible to just slap a decent graphics card in an HP DL360, install ESXi 6.5 and have 4 to 6 guest VM's leverage the graphics card in the ESXi host? I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks.

Thank you for the reply Richardson. I've done some research and it appears that 'Multi-Tenancy' is probably overkill for what I need. I believe Resource Pools should do the trick. I just need to give 2 groups which reside in the same building on the same LAN access to a percentage of resources in our VMware cluster. CPU and Memory seem straightforward. Permissions also seem to be fairly straightforward. I just need to figure out separating the storage between the two groups. Thanks again.

We have an ESXi 5.5 cluster with vCenter 5.5 for our lab. We need to configure it so that another group in my department can share our lab for their testing. Ideally, we would like it configured so that they can't see/use our stuff and vice-versa. I guess this would be a multi-tenant config? I'm looking for information on how to achieve this in the easiest least complex way.
