Hi, From mars 2020 MS will change their default settings in AD when it comes to AD authentication with simple binding and ldap signing. As of today our log insight system uses either simple binding or ldap without signing i guess since i get this message if i check the logs The following client performed a SASL (Negotiate/Kerberos/NTLM/Digest) LDAP bind without requesting signing (integrity verification), or performed a simple bind over a clear text (non-SSL/TLS-encrypted) LDAP connection. Client IP address: x.x.x.48:52488 Identity the client attempted to authenticate as: domain\serviceaccount Binding Type:0 I have checked around and I cannot see that Log Insight supports ldap with signing so to me it seems like I have to configure LDAPS (LDAP over SSL / LDAP over TLS). I don`t have much knowledge when it comes to certificates / PKI, but to my understanding I have to install a PKI solution. This is a .local domain, so we cannot get a certificate from a 3 part, and its also a "closed" environment. So my question is, do i need to implement a complete PKI solution (root ca+issuing ca) or is there some other manual way ? The same thing goes for vCenter it seems. Any comments ? How is your configuration ? /regards Andreas

Hi, Configure a new system with 2 hosts running VMware ESXi, 6.5.0, 5969303 Now I suddenly get this error message on one of the hosts Registration/unregistration of third-party IO filter storage providers fails on a host Not sure what impact this have on the system.... I have tried to reboot the ESXi host, same problem. There are no distributed switches. No vsan. I believe Port 9080 is open since it has been working, but I will double check tomorrow. I see some have had success with the following, will try this tomorrow 1) enter maintenance mode 2) move esxi from cluster to datacenter 3) disconnect esxi 4) remove esxi from inventory 5) add esxi host do datacenter 6) move esxi to cluster. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks for reply.

Hi, Thanks for reply. I can see from that document that it enables the DC as a NTP server I guess, but it asks to configure upstream NTP servers and that we cannot do since we don`t have access to the outside world. If we do setup this connection, it will never validate, should we point it to 127.0.0.1 instead ? For example 127.0.0.1,0x1 or should we drop to specify upstream NTP servers ?

Hi, Since we have a closed network we have no default gateway, and since we don`t have that we have warnings within vCenter. What`s the best way to suppress these messages ? Or correct way ? I can`t point to a fake IP since it will fail to answer, and then we get a warning. Thanks for reply.

Hi, We have a closed environment with windows domain controllers. I thought I had configured the ESXi hosts to have correct time, but they are 1 hour wrong. I guess the best way is to configure a NTP server, but we don`t have access outside. How should I configure the environment, since the domain computers are syncing with the PDC emulator that run on the DC, and I guess ESXi / vCenter does not support W32Time service ? Thanks for reply.

Hi, We are testing vmware, and have a question regarding vmotion. We have 2 esxi hosts, is it ok to take a regular network cable and connect directly between these servers, and configure a vmkernel - vmotion for this ? Or should we connect to the switch for this also ?

Thanks for reply. I can see from the order note that the following is ordered "VMware vSphere with Operations Management Enterprise Plus for 1 CPU" I`m not sure about "Operations Management" is this like an appliance I add ? is it named VMware vRealize Operations Manager ? If so I have found this vRealize Operations Manager - Appliance installation, OVA file version 6.5, release date 2017-03-02. This is somekind I install after vcenter is configured right ?

Hi, We have a system that is delivered 1 year ago, I believe its delivered with a UFM module but unsure if the vShpere is installed. So 2 questions. 1. If the system is preinstalled with UFM module vSphere 6.0 can we just download 6.5 from the vendor and run the upgrade from DVD or 2. If the system is not preinstalled, and the UFM module is empty, can we download 6.5 install this with the license we have for 6.0 ? And if you have some good links to upgrade 6.0 -> 6.5 it would be nice. Thanks for reply.

Hi, If I buy VMware vCenter Server Foundation, what am I missing then compared to Standard, Essentials, or Essentials Plus ? (I know of max 3 hosts (or 4 now) operation manager, linked vcenter?) I cant find a "VMware vCenter Server Foundation Vs Standard +++", I can only find things like this https://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/whitepaper/vmware-vsphere_pricing-white-paper.pdf If I do go for VMware vCenter Server Foundation, is there any problems upgrading to other versions, or is this just a new license key ? Thanks for reply. Andreas

Hi, Some users want to have access to the console of their VMs, so that they can shutdown and reboot these if for example they are not able to contact these with RDP. The users should not see any other VMs, they should only have access to their own, they should not be able to change settings on these either, I mean for example add more memory..... just console option for shutdown and reboot... So have is the best way to solve this.... read something about remote url, but is this not supported any more... we have version 6 .... Thanks for replys. Hi, Thanks for answers. I`ll try to explain more:) The customer has a application that they want to run on a physical workstation, and that application have dependencies for example .net. When you click on this application it will off course then need these dependencies and install them, and that is the problem. The customer wants to "bundle" everything into one .exe/msi file, every thing that the application need. So when the customer copies that application bundle onto the workstation, and double click on it and use the application it will run in a sandbox environment, and when they are finished there should not be any .net installed on the workstation, and no programs to remove from the control panel. They should just remove the .exe/msi file. And the application need access to the physical workstation. Regarding the OS im not sure, but I think its Windows 7/8 or Server 2008 R2, if need to know I can check... The customer is referring to vapp (because some one told him that this could be used), but I'm not familiar with vapp, and the customer was not quite sure either if it was vapp that was recommended.
