HI vNEX, I checked the above link of William. The info which need to be injuct is for a particular ESX or ESXi. but its not exectly possible that the VM will always reside into same ESXi due to vmotion(DRS) whose information is captured int VMX file. In this case is it possible to get the correct information about the ESxi host on which VM is running. Regards, Sachin Bhardwaj

Yes, As you said you have a DB server as physical which will not change even if you are going for production. So, all you required 1) SSO -- For SSO db if you are using existing DB for that then tha'ts fine, but if you are planning to have additionnel server for DB, there you will find difficulty 2) SQL server for VC - As you said you are using existing DB.. Thats fine 3) Installing vcenter and inventory server..you reqire to have SSO server details. If you are using IP convention for installing VC, there you will find difficulty, where you need to uninstall VC and Inventory services. Regards, Sachin Bhardwaj

I know we can able to find this while logging into Vcenter where the machine is running and on which ESXi. Is there any way where I could able to identify on which ESXi thIS VM is running from Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) of that VM.

If your datastore is not picking up in ESxi Pls perform the following 1) Mount the CD and install the ESXi while detecting LUN it will ask you to overwrite the LUN or use the "preserve the old VMFS"volume. In your case you need to use existing VMFS volume during installation. In that way you could retrive back to previous state. Regards, Sachin

Yes, thats correct.. For moving files to other folder, you need to move the vmdk files from one datastore to another datastore. before  that you need to poweroff the VM Now, you need to add the server again into inventory from using vmx file to new datastore. Thanks Sachin Bhardwaj
