Hi, Just checking if you ever got this resolved? did you switch on DRS and off again to see if that helped?

Hi, Not sure if you found a solution already but if not take a look at : Static IP given during OVA deployment doesnt take effect post deployment

Enclosed above the memory consumed. Yes good point there on the memory overhead - we do run a standard of 8 VMs (32gb RAM) on a 256bg RAM box so yes there will be some overspill for sure. Other piece was reservations - for some reason some had them in and been removed. Last piece is the VMware tools - so yep got a mixed line of builds (hypervisor team hopefully getting them in alignment next wk) but getting the vm's up-to-date will be a little tricker as using citrix pvs imaging software and need to reverse engineer the images to get them up-to-date but will be on the list.

Hi all, Got a 26 node cluster (which is running a mixture of 5.5 builds which does need to be addressed) and see certain number of vm's swapping out at time (under resource utilization tab it can be seen). In terms of memory over-commitment there is not a lot of it - on average each host has 256GB of RAM and maybe 265-270gb of RAM assigned to VM;s (was supposed to be 1:1 ratio but some additional vm's got added). Thing here is the active guest memory usage never spikes too high (maybe 10gb after the reboots have settled down) so looking at roughly 20-40% actual utilization. Just wondering if folks had any pointers to assist here. tx

Hi, Just verifying, you administering the VM via vCenter or via the host using vSphere client? taken from the vSphere Basic System Administration (page 142) ......NOTE If a virtual machine is on a host managed by vCenter Server, be sure to connect to vCenter Server when adding or modifying virtual hardware for the virtual machine. If you connect the vSphere Client directly to the host, add hardware operations might fail with the error message Cannot complete operation due to concurrent modification by another operation.
Maybe at installation the HDD drives where not detected? - take a look at http://www.vreference.com/2011/04/28/check-for-esxi-scratch-persistence/ and see if that helps
Hi, Just checking - did you enable "trivia (extended verbose)" logging to see if its picked up there? See VMware vSphere 5.1

Hi, I've used suggestion number 2 from below link https://communities.vmware.com/message/2169538#2169538 worked for me fine in the past
tx yes kinda was thinking as much in terms of perhaps looking more "inward" into the VM itself - we have a few such tools internally so will see what we can do. Tx for the feedback!

Hi all, Hitting an issue in our environment that may not be resolvable but wanted to reach out to folks and see if they found a way to override. Currently have vm monitoring enabled in our cluster. Thing is we would look to reboot VM's whose VMware tools are showing a status of "not running" - now the key thing is by most definitions the system is available when this happens, can be pinged, RDP'ed etc but we would still like them rebooted as it ultimately resolves the issue we see (eg unable to connect via citrix to the machines in question) Duncan in the post below points out in order to avoid false positives any storage/network IO activity will be checked after heatbeats have failed in order to "double check" there is a problem with the VM VM Monitoring (aka VM HA) heartbeat - Yellow Bricks What I was wondering was is there a way to override the storage/network IO activity check and thus reboot the vm's as soon as the VMware tools stops running on them? Many tx for any thoughts
