You're trying to restore from 2008 R2 Express to 2008 , this should be the main issue here . What if you just first upgrade  from 2008 to 2008 R2

Well if SQL database  running on SAN you can only convert system /nonshared / drives Data you won't need to migrate you need only change LUN mapping and attach LUN as physical RDM/s to Virtual Machine . This is in case you have SAN , but in case those are local drives is not  going to work
