Hi spoonuk What hardware, what version of esxi Did you pass the pcihole .... 1200 , 2200 ? EFI bios ? how much ram in the VM, try first whit 1.5GB did you install vmtools first ?. You can try whit only the gpu not usb reboot the server .. Also in my case i had to disable audio onboard , and put primary GPU =pci in my bios Good luck you are close. Take snapshot of your vm before attemting to pass...

Hi everyone, I just want to share my new vtd adventure. Successfully pass a ati 6850 and usb to OSX 10.9 under Esxi 5.5. Question1: is anyone tried 2 GPU cards , 2 Os Question2 : is anyone got gpu vtd pass / esxi on a laptop.

EDIT : never mind it works just got another iso of win8.... everything works flawless + speed improvement -------------------------------------- I have the same issue.... i have been running win8 + gpu for a while trying to upgrade  on 5.5 m trying to make a fresh win8 vm trying to install win8 in efi and it WONT BOOT install win8 in bios boot fine, install win7 in efi boot fine Is there anything special to do to install  win8 to boot in efi,  could it be my isot is there any other settings then the bios efi / bios to change

Hi guys, running it in Linux is very interesting also. specifically when you think of password cracking... Quick question , Does anyone run a high end card like a 7970 ? I must mention i am quite satisfied whit the 6850, it run Assasin creed 3 and hitman perfeclty , but it lack tork for Farcry3.

thanks , you were right , Works... now it seems that 5.1 have a known bug where it canot pass USB anymore,,,, http://communities.vmware.com/message/2121983 Just have to wait for the fix...not too worry about that Anyways i am quite happy whit the fact that we can pass a GPU to a VM ... I want to thanks everyone in this post and all the ones who work on this amazing project ESXi.

I can also report that Realtek 8168 Gigabit Ethernet Cannot connect to the specified gateway 192.168 .1.1. Failed to set it. error 9/30/2012 11:48:13 AM localhost.localdomain Lost network connectivity on virtual switch "vSwitch0". Physical NIC vmnic0 is down. Affected portgroups:"Management Network". error 9/30/2012 11:48:13 AM localhost.localdomain i disable the virtual NIC and re enable and it came back . Win 64b ESX 5.1

HI guys , Just to report I can passtrough a ATI 6850, and a LSI 2008 raid But cannot pass my usb 2.0 and usb 3.0 Witch are Inter Corp Panther Point enhanced host onboard of my Asrock Z77 Pro 3 Lets just hope its fix soon.

Hi guys , FINALLY made it work :smileymischief: !!!!! All that was lacking from my last post was VMtools, So it was the bios settings ,,,,,, Houra Still got a problem tough When i reboot the pysical ESXi host i hangs at < cnic register loaded successfullyre Iam pretty positive its cause by the ATI passtrough being the same video card ESXi use to dispay the Hypervisor basic menu What makes me say that is that when i choose Primary Graphic =Onboard , the ESX load fine but on the VGA, and the problem is that in the Win7 VM its back to the BSOD atimpkg crap. SO i think I absolutly  need to select in my bios , Primary Graphic = PCI Express, and it seems that ESX use the prinmary I seach how to make ESX use another card for its local basic display or not use any at all, But i did not find how to. Is it even possible ^ Do you guys experience that as well ^

Hi guys , in my case im seeing some improvement , but still no cigar I7 3770 Updated my Asrock Z77 Pro3 to 1.60 fresh esx 5.1 AMD 12.8 Gigabyte 6850 Pass trough the Card and the HDMI Win7 64 Bios as kthree mentioned (thanks buddy) Primary Graphics Adapter: PCI Express VT-d: Enabled IGPU Multi-Monitor: Disabled Onboard HD Audio: Disable Did the windows update reboot, card detected as vga compatible , update the driver of windows , See it as a 6800 series , But cannot choose in screen resolution reboot Install AMD cata 12.8 install whiout BSOD good rebooot whiout bsod , thats also am improvement Now when i got into windows , Catalyst says : No AMD graphic driver install or the amd driver is not dunctionning properlu please install the drive appropriate for your AMD hardware And still cannot select the ATI in screen resolution Thanks

Hi gentlement , still no luck here , its either i got bsod when i install it or when i enable it from safe mode When i disable the svga VMware diver i can install it whiout bsod but windows  doesnt allow me to choose it in resolution settings, I read erlier in this post the vmware svga should be WDDM 1.1, how do i install that, should i investigate more this way... any help Thanks you i3770 Asrock Z77 pro3 WIn64b

hi guys after trying to make that work for a few days. its still not working heres my setup 3770 asrock z77 pro3 5.01 esxi Gigabyte HD6850 win7 64bits pciholes edited I got the driver install correctly, whithout BSOD, but for some reason it shows as a 6800 series I can never select the ati 6850 as the second display its never there When i boot windows it gives me a message that the '' ati catalyst control is not supported by the driver version  , please update your driver ....'' i have been stuggling to completely disable the SVGA Vmware card but it always show up as only and primary card... Any suggestion , help Thanks
