vCops 5.7 Enterprise - Custom UI Is there a way to copy a configured widget from one dashboard to another?
Do you use Tags? Once you do identify what goes where, tags will help with the dashboards.
Thanks for the KB I'll give it a run.

While working with and maintaining the VM environment, we may need to remove and re-add resources (VMs, Hosts) and keep the same name. This leaves old objects in the database. Looking at resource lists in vCops (customUI) you will see several objects of the same name, but different IDs, and different "Identifier 2" values, while the Identifier 1 and Identifier 3 values are the same. Is there a way to remove the records of old objects?

Can you create the OVA without NICs and then a script to install and config after deploy? I've taken a similar step when upgrading VM Hardware, or changing VM NIC type - removing the NICs before shutdown\upgrade\change, then adding in afterwards.
I had the right license key. There is an "Internal KB" that describes how to update the db with the license and sku RTFM doesn't work if it's not ITFM

I did eventually get the PAK downloaded. And upgraded without a hitch .. but ... The license doesn't seem to be working. The file name on the download page is 5.6 ENT, though described as 5.7 Ent We are licensed for 5.x Enterprise We are on vCenter 5.0.0 After the upgrade, in the vC client we get a Script Error: key is null or not an object If I go to the web, the Custom UI is "not licensed" and the vSphere UI is Foundation.

The wrong file took less than a minute.

I too am chasing random disconnects on new HP blades - BL460c Gen8 Flex-Fabric ESXi5.0u1 - HP build ISO Latest-greatest firmware, drivers However, my symptoms are name resolution - Sometimes vCenter can resolve the ESX host name, Sometimes not When the host drops, it still responds to a ping by IP. .. I'm going to be working with our network guys to dig into this, assuming it really is a name resolution issue. However, I haven't seen this issue on our Cisco UCS blades... which makes this thread all the more interesting.

I verified it was the HP Management Bundle - at least in my case. Building new servers VM updates - everything is fine HP Mgmt Bundle 1.4.5-3 No logins before patch 1 minute logins after patch Pretty annoying when you want to look for other issues or events. Is there a way to turn down the logging level so root logins are not logged?

Watch out! I loaded HP's 5.0.2 (update2) on Gen8 blades started reporting Array P220i "warnings" I had to back down to the Update1 version. And then even updating with HPs Feb13 releases caused the warning. HP released an update to address this problem. Look for HP Management Bundle 1.4.5-3 dated 4/12/2013 But now VUM doesn't want to install them...?? update:  Created an Exension baseline of just the bundle and it worked.

Custom dashboards showing: 7 day history of Health Status on each cluster - So I can see how well behaved they were overnight / over the weekend Heat map of Host memory usage (by cluster) Heat map of Guest memory usage (by cluster) Metric Graph - rolling view - of memory for a number of guests related to a particular application I've set up a few "Applications" with tiers, but haven't done much with them yet. Great for troubshooting and dismissing red herrings. We had a performance issue for an app. We noticed disk latency spikes. !! We were able to go back to before the reported problems and see that the spikes were there back then as well !! Move on, look elsewhere, nothing to see here  The Dynamic Thresholds are great to say "This Spike Is Normal" We've had it a little over 6 mos and it is showing it's value. It also helps when you know there was a problem somewhere and it's now fixed, to go digging in vCops to see where and how the symptoms show.
If you browse these blogs, you may end up leaning towards 5.0 It is certainly keeping me from planning an upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1.
The Datastore browser is a good suggestion. Do you use Virtual Update Manager?  You should be able to include the VIB in VUM.
What errors are you getting? Is SSH enabled on both client and server? Any firewalls in between, blocking ports or protocols?
So will these stale MoRefs go away eventually?
I manually imported the HP patches into VUM I just skip the "Staging" of the non-critical.
