Hi André Thank you very mutch for your answer. I saw that document also. The little diffrenece is that you should do that on the dl380G9 on the HP Uefi. But i was also in the Brodcate Bios Hm the funny part is that all the stuff witch i could configure there dosent help. I could not change the Personality of the Adpater from ETH to iscis.. wath ever. iscsi Boot is not what im looking for. The other funny thing is that in the Document witch i Posted is the following Statement. About NPAR configuration Configure HP 10Gb 2-port 53x and 20Gb 2-port 63x Series Adapters with Switch Independent Partitioning, also referred to as NPAR, to partition the adapter and allow up to eight Ethernet-enabled functions (four per port). Partitioning also allows the following functions in operating systems where the specific CNA can be enabled: • Four functions (two per port) that are iSCSI CNA enabled • Two functions (one per port) that are FCoE CNA enabled, plus up to two functions (one per port) that are iSCSI CNA-enable If i understood that correct it dosent make any changes if the funktion is NPAR or the SWI. Hi I have installed a new dl380Gen9 with a HP FlexFabric 10GB 533FLR-T Adapter onboard. I Used the HP Customized ESXi Build and updated the Server with the last SPP from Oktober. After the sucessfully install i tryed to use the Hardware dependend iscsi. But i cant see the vmhba under storage in the vsphere client. There is only the SATA controller and the Smartarry but no Brodcom. I tryed to open a case at hp but i dont get no responde till jet. I downloaded to be shure the newest firmware and also drivers from the hpe support page for the nic but if i try to upgrade or install im getting the notice that already have the latest driver installed. I Read the article about iscsi Offlload http://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5404524&docId=emr_na-c04408042&docLocal... The Site 24 under VMware discripes how to configure but well i still cant see the vmhba.3x. Has anyone the same problem or have any idea how to fix it? I dont want use the software iscsi cause of the load witch we ar generating over the 10GB nic.... Thanks Florian

Hm Finaly i got my problem also after the bios upgrade. In my case it was a power setting in the bios. Cause vmware has with 5.5 per default an option on witch is corresponding to Colaborative Power Control. Under ML350G6 there is this iption on and hase Problems with the default setting in vmware. So HP told me to perform the steps below (boot intobios) > Press F9 to enter setup. > Select Power Management Options. > Select Advanced Power Management Options. > Select Collaborative Power Control. > Select disabled.

Enviroment: 2x ESX 5i on DL 380G2 Vcenter 5 on a VM W2k8R2 (up2date) On Each ESX is a HP P4300 VSA located with 2 Local VDMK's each around 1 TB The VSA Is located on a VSwitch2 The Switch has 2 Portgroups -iSan -ISCSI VMKernel On the Vswitch are on each ESX the Same Vnics (Numbre) connected. - vmnic 9 - vmnic 2 Both nics are connected to a stacked switch. The Portgroups are both configurated to use VLANID: 40 So the Switchports are Taget with the VLAND ID 40 an others. Ther is only a failover betwen the two Nics. So no LACP or things like this. The Kernel Port ist to comunicate with the ESX Hostsystem for Mounting Luns witch are provisioned on the VSA The ISAN is needet to connect to the other VSA Located on the Other ESX Server ESX1 ESX2 | | VM Kernel VM Kernel | | VSA1 <-Isan> VSA2 The HP VSA Is more or les also u2date (9.5.00.1215.0) Challange / Error The HP San Management has reported an error. The VSA2 was not Reachable during some Secconds. So i checked the Switch logs these where oke. Hello Togehter.. Got a small problem here at the field Hm we have 3 ESX Server. ESX4.1 4.1.0, 260247 ESX4.1 4.1.0, 260247 Used HW: and new ESX4.1i 4.1.0, 502767 Used HW: I i try now to move a VM from an old to a new or a new to an old i get this error: EVC is disabled on the Cluster and HA atm also. I google that and found the VMware KB http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1003718 I palyed around with the NX DX flag i checked the Bios stuff on the new ESX (The old one ar still runnig so i cant check) But i know the Mem Protection is enabled the VT also and also the Hypertheading. I also tryed to reset the CPU mask on the VM. A cold migration is working perfectly. The Network (VMotion) is also configured correct. and the VM tools are also installed on the VM. Has any one a clue why this is not working? Hello Together.. Im a bit confused about the VSA of HP. The installing and configure manual does not help me to answer my Q. As first the Setup: 2x DL380 G7 (2x 148 GB) 14x300 GB eatch. Esx 5.i and enouth RAM So now how to configure. http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/uploaded_files/VSAUserManual.pdf Does told me how much Ram i have to set 2 - 3 GB how to create the VMDK (Settings) and witch SCSI Adress... It also told me that i have to create 5 GB - 3TB disks but.... it told me nothing about the design. Cause the Manual describs i have to use a Raid (NOT Raid0 wath a wonder) I created like the physical P4300 a Raid 5 over 13 Disks and add 1 Spare on each server I installed the ESX on the 2x 148 GB Raid 1 disks. So but... now do i create on big Datastore (attention i need to create a VMFS 5 causethe 3600 GB is not supported in the lower vers... Oke and now .... shuld i create one big disk.... or shell i create 6x 600 GB disks and add them to the VSA and create in the CMC a Raid 5 over thees 6 DIsks.... or shuld i create 1 big VDMK ........ Got any one experinance about thaht? Something ohter.... The most traffic will stay in the ESX as self cause the Storage is build in and there is no need to go out over a vmk to an other network component (If on both vsa are the same luns and bla..) I thinking about to give the VSA a 10 GB Nic.... did here see anyone a problem? Im happy about all Feedbacks cause i cant finde any BPA or complelty Installing and configuring guide.
