Found a solution. Upload the offline bundle to the appliance, extract it and then run the vmware-shd-patch-4.0.1/stageupdate. Reboot when prompted. The docs should be updated to include the new patching method for offline environments.

We've deployed the appliance on 4.0.0 using the OVA and are now trying to do the upgrade to 4.0.1 in an airgapped environment. What is the process for importing the offline upgrade bundle to the app... See more...
We've deployed the appliance on 4.0.0 using the OVA and are now trying to do the upgrade to 4.0.1 in an airgapped environment. What is the process for importing the offline upgrade bundle to the appliance? All mentions in the docs still refer to the old process using the ISO.
