SHD appliance at 4.0.0. Deployed original version 3.0.2 from ova, with subsequent updates via the appliance. To reproduce, SSH to appliance and log in as root. Mail is at /var/mail/root Cron jobs are at /etc/cron.d. There is a file called sysstat that contains the following. Manually executing the sa1 script gives the output, "mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/var/log/sa’: File exists". The sa1 script is dated 2022-11-21, which is possibly when the problem was introduced, if it is the source. # Run system activity accounting tool every 10 minutes */10 * * * * root /usr/lib/sa/sa1 1 1 # 0 * * * * root /usr/lib/sa/sa1 600 6 # Generate a text summary of previous day process accounting at 00:07 7 0 * * * root /usr/lib/sa/sa2 -A

I was in the shell and received a new-mail message. There is now a 22MB mail file with "mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/var/log/sa’: File exists", with a new mail every 10 minutes. The sender is "(Cron Daemon)". I would like to stop or fix whatever is generating this, unless doing that will break something.

Version is 4.0.0, upgraded from 3.5.2. The lsdoctor.log does note "Listing lookup service problems found in SSO domain," but the next row is "No issues detected in the lookup service entries for xxxx.xxxxx.local (VC 7.0 or CGW)" and the json file says "No problems found."
I continually receive an error, "Not able to collect Lookup Service Data," when I run a health check. The lsdoctor tool in the recommended resolution does not find any problem.

I ended up rebooting the VM and it seems to have worked. The only other thing of note if you're upgrading is to make sure the root user on the old SHD has SSH access, as you will need that to transfer its data to the new one. Once done, everything comes over verbatim. Finally, the OVA image uses an E1000 NIC and an LSI controller. This is not VMware best practice. I don't know if there is a reason for that but I replaced them with VMXNET3 and paravirtual devices. This may or may not have caused the install issue but the appliance does function as expected.

I received a notice in the 2.5.2 console that there was a major version upgrade available. I followed the instructions in the SHD guide and downloaded and deployed the OVA. It hangs at the appliance initialization script. I can ping the VM, but other than that there is no sign of life.
I'm receiving the error "VCG Database update failed. Unexpected Error handling VCG Update Task" Most recent update was 2021-07-08 on 2.5.0. I updated to 2.5.1 today. Thanks
I continue to receive the warning, "Did not find an entry matching VxRail P570 and Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 5118 CPU @ 2.30GHz." These hosts are fairly new. The VCG is from today. Tool is 2.0.5.
