The Skyline team is pleased to announce new VMware Skyline Collector 3.5 and Advisor Pro releases with VMware Aria Operations for Logs Diagnostic Findings and new proactive Findings. If you have Auto-Upgrade enabled, your Skyline Collector will automatically update.      A summary of the new features is below. For additional details review the Skyline Advisor Pro Release Notes. Log into Skyline Advisor Pro today to see the new enhancements!        New Feature Highlights:      Aria Operations for Logs Diagnostic Findings  Skyline recently added Aria Operations for Logs product support, expanding the list of VMware products Skyline analyzes to keep productive and healthy in your environment. Once you add your Aria Logs endpoints to your Skyline Collector(s), you can view proactive Findings and Recommendations in Skyline Advisor Pro. With this latest release, you can now view Diagnostic Findings in Advisor Pro, based on Aria Operations for Logs queries. Diagnostic Findings alert you to and pinpoint existing issues in your environment based on log data evidence. The Diagnostic Findings complement Proactive Findings, which alert you to potential issues in your environment that have not yet occurred. After you add your Aria Logs endpoints to Skyline, you will notice that the default setting for Diagnostic Findings is disabled. You can enable and/or disable the feature whenever you like. We recommend adding all of your Aria Logs endpoints to keep them safe and productive, and enabling Diagnostic Findings to take advantage of log data analysis. Skyline will prompt you to connect endpoints that are not already connected. Read more about the new Findings in the blog post.    If you have questions about any of these announcements, please visit the Skyline Community.        Skyline Collectors Below v3.0 EOL: As previously announced, we have begun the End of Life (EOL) process for Skyline Collectors below v3.0. We strongly recommend you upgrade any Collectors below 3.0 to the latest Collector version v3.5, before the October 5, 2023 EOL date, to avoid losing access to Skyline. All of your Collectors must be on v3.0 or above to access Skyline Advisor Pro, which is smarter, easier and 12X faster than Skyline Advisor. Note that customers running Collector v2.1 and below who have not upgraded will no longer see data provided by those Collectors in Skyline Advisor.  As a reminder, VMware supports n-2 versions of the Skyline Collector. Currently versions 3.3 and below are no longer actively supported under General Support. Learn more about upgrading Skyline Collector.

We’re pleased to announce a new VMware Skyline Advisor Pro release with support for SaaS subscriptions, including vSphere+, vSAN+, and vCF+ support, and new proactive Findings. If you have Auto Upgrade enabled, your Skyline Collector will automatically update.     A summary of the new features is below. For additional details review the Skyline Advisor Release Notes.  Log into Skyline Advisor Pro today to see the new enhancements!        New Feature Highlights:       SaaS Subscription Support  Customers with VMware SaaS subscriptions, including vSphere+, vSAN+, and vCF+ can now use Skyline Advisor Pro. Currently, the VMware Production Support level is assigned to all active SaaS subscriptions. When both an Entitlement Account and a SaaS Subscription are present, Skyline access is based on the highest Entitlement Account level. To access Skyline, at least one Entitlement Account or SaaS subscription needs to be active or linked. A grace period of 60 days is activated after the last Entitlement Account or SaaS subscription expires. During this time, you can assign an active Entitlement Account or new SaaS subscription to continue Skyline operations. Otherwise, the service will enter a deactivated state. View information about your current EA and SaaS subscriptions on the Advisor Pro Dashboard. Read more about the new Findings in the blog post.    If you have questions about any of these announcements, please visit the Skyline Community.        Skyline Collector Tip: Note that if your Collectors are running v3.1, you must manually upgrade them, due to an issue in how the proxy configuration is propagated from the Skyline UI through the backend service to the OS level. This has been resolved in subsequent Collector versions, and the Auto Upgrade function works as intended. Please refer to step-by-step manual upgrade instructions in this KB. We strongly recommend running the latest Skyline Collector version v3.4 to take advantage of all Skyline features. P.S. We’re pleased to announce new VMware Skyline Collector 3.2 and Advisor Pro releases with accelerated email notification delivery, dashboard enhancements, self-service reports for Success 360 and Premier Services, and new proactive Findings.   Critical Finding email notifications will be delivered within 24 hours instead of 48 hours You can now click on Active Findings, Findings Type, Findings Category, Support Requests and Active Log Assists to jump to detailed views of each section directly from the main Dashboard. Proactive Insights Reports are now available to all Success 360 users, instead of a subset of users. Premier Services customers can now generate and access self-service Insights Reports, previously available exclusively to Success 360 customers. With this new feature, Operational Summary Reports (OSR) will still be available to Premier Services customers, but no new OSR will be generated. We’re pleased to announce a new VMware Skyline Advisor Pro release with enhanced notification capabilities, including End of General Support / End of Technical Guidance notifications for ESXi hosts, notification panel enhancements, and VMware Success 360 Insights Reports Powered by Skyline notifications. Additionally, we added several new proactive Findings, bringing the total number of issues that Skyline checks to over 870.   Read about the new Findings released in March and April: March Findings  April Findings    Remember that all of your Skyline Collectors must be on v3.0 or above to access Skyline Advisor Pro, which is smarter, easier and 12X faster than Skyline Advisor. If you have a TAM, you must have Skyline Collector 3.1 installed to enable TAM Health Check Reports Powered by Skyline. If you have the Auto Upgrade feature enabled, your Collectors will update automatically. If not, you can download the latest version from the Collector user interface.  A summary of the new features is below. This enables you to view the host expirations along with expirations for other inventory in your environment. Another Notifications panel enhancement you will notice is that “Unhealthy Collector” notifications will disappear from the panel in a timely manner, once you have restored your Skyline Collector(s) to health.  VMware Success 360 Insights Reports Powered by Skyline Notification Enhancements Exclusive to VMware Success 360 customers, you will now receive email notifications when a VMware Success 360 Insights Report has been generated. Those emails will include context-sensitive links directly to the report(s) in Skyline Advisor Pro. We’re pleased to announce new Skyline Collector 2.8 and Advisor releases with support for vRealize Automation 8.1 and above, and vRealize Lifecycle Manager v8.2 and above, Customer Connect notifications, expanded Support Request visibility and LDAPS for Active Directory Authentication support.    We strongly recommend updating your Skyline Collector to take advantage of all the new features, as well as upcoming features in subsequent releases. If you have the Auto Upgrade feature enabled, your Collectors will update automatically. If not, you can download the new version from the Collector user interface. Note that if you’re running Collector v2.1 or below, you must upgrade to continue seeing data provided by those Collectors. After July 31st, 2021, customers running Collector v2.1 and below who have not upgraded will no longer see data provided by those Collectors in Skyline Advisor after that date.  As a reminder, VMware supports n-2 versions of the Skyline Collector. Enhanced Support Request Visibility   The Support Request (SR) visibility feature for Skyline Administrators has been enhanced. Previously, when Skyline Administrators enabled the SR Visibility setting in Skyline Advisor to view SRs across teams, they saw SRs from Skyline users and non-Skyline users. Now when the SR Visibility setting is enabled, Skyline Administrators will see SRs from Skyline users only. Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAPS) Support for Active Directory Authentication As part of our ongoing commitment to security adherence, Skyline Collector now supports LDAPS for Active Directory Authentication.

For additional details review the Skyline Advisor Release Notes. Log into Skyline Advisor today to see the new enhancements!      New features:      Enhanced Email Notifications The following email notifications are now available for Skyline Administrators:  Unhealthy Skyline Collector notifications: emails are triggered when one or more Collectors are in an unhealthy status. The emails provide guidance for troubleshooting and restoring your Collectors to health so Skyline can continue keeping your environment safe and healthy. Out-of-date Skyline Collector notifications: emails are triggered when one or more Skyline Collectors are out of date and need upgrading to the latest version. You must upgrade your Collectors to take advantage of the latest features and enhancements. We recommend enabling Auto-Upgrade on all your Collectors to ensure you stay on the latest version. We do recommend you upgrade when you can, though, as some features, including Bulk Product End Point Configuration, are only available in the latest Collector releases. Thanks for reaching out!

We’re pleased to announce new Skyline Collector 2.7 and Advisor releases with simplified product end point configuration, improved Log Assist messaging, expanded inventory details and new Findings & Recommendations.   We strongly recommend customers update their Skyline Collectors to take advantage of all the new features, as well as upcoming features in subsequent releases. If customers have the Auto Upgrade feature enabled, their Collectors will update automatically. If not, they can manually update their Skyline Collectors using the VAMI.  New features:    Bulk Product End Point Configuration  New bulk insert and update feature to make it easier to add and configure multiple product end points to Skyline Collectors. We also simplified the Skyline Collector vCenter product configuration process.  Improved Log Assist Messaging  Additional Log Assist messaging was added to make the Log Assist privileges and connectivity revalidation process more user friendly, including last revalidation date and time, and specific details on any failed revalidation attempts.  Expanded Inventory Details Descriptive names, with links to additional details, have been added for each inventory type on the Inventory tab. Improved Support Request Visibility for Skyline Administrators  This feature provides Skyline Administrators with visibility of Support Requests across teams, making it easier to leverage Log Assist in your organization. Toggle on the ‘View Support Requests Raised by Team Members’ option in the Skyline Advisor Settings to enable this functionality.  Findings Catalog  The new Findings Catalog provides you with increased visibility into all the at-risk issues and vulnerabilities that Skyline checks. Reviewing the Findings Catalog enables you to determine whether there is a Finding available in Skyline for a potential issue, security vulnerability or configuration recommendation. We actively grow the catalog of Findings to surface issues that can be addressed proactively.  View the Active Findings page to see if you’re impacted by a specific Finding in your environment. New Inventory Object Types The new Object Type field improves usability of the inventory functionality for your deployments. You can view the object types on the Inventory tab. “Mute” Feature is Now “Hide” We renamed the ‘Mute/Muted’ Findings and objects feature to ‘Hide/Hidden’ Findings and objects.
