Hi Edward, Thank you for your patience. From the error message it looks like this could be related to the NSX controller name. Do you have a name configured for NSX controller already? If no, please try to configure a name for NSX controller and let us know the results.

Hello J, As you are aware that email notifications should be triggered to the email address associated to the My VMware account which used to register the collector(s) that will contain instructions including a link to the web page where the OSR documents will be available for download and it's estimated that first report should be available between 3 - 4 weeks. Let me know if you need additional information or have any other questions that I can help with.

My customer is using the admin credentials to authenticate to both. They have followed the KB to create an additional account with the required permissions as well and it isn't pulling the data for the "NSX" type data but the "NSX Telemetry" is successful. Please advise if we need to open a ticket as the Skyline Team suggested I use this forum first.

Hi Gerlad, I understand that we were not able to login in to the collector appliance using SSH. To isolate the issue Open the browser and login to the appliance using http://<IP_ADDRESS>/login to login to the Skyline collector Try using the root user and password and check if that is allowing the login to VAMI page Regards Yuvaraj VMware Support Moderator

Hi Gerlad It seems we have issues with privileges assigned to the user accounts we are using to connect to NSX manager and NSX controller. Please verify whether the following privileges are assigned to the user accounts Skyline requires credentials with read privileges for both the NSX Manager and NSX Controllers. For NSX Manager, Skyline Collector needs an account with the Auditor role or similar privileges with access to the API to query information. For NSX Controllers, Skyline Collector needs an account with access to SSH and the ability run various ‘show’ commands. Perhaps it is the impatient part of me, but I have things all working (well the on-prem skyline collector appears good) and am wondering what is the time line for the delivery of the first report? Is it based on the calendar, or when I started sending data? It was indicated that you are working on a portal for on-demand generation, but currently I am not 100% confident that the data flow is working correctly. -- J

Hello, We just stood up our skyline appliance. We can connect to our vcenter ok, but not our NSX instance. Details: Unableto obtain successful collection to NSX core. NSX Telemetry collection successful. Condition exists when using admin account for NSX Manager and NSX Controllers OR using account created in accordance with KB2150736 as an Auditor. Only admin account has access to SSH to controllers and run show commands. Unable to login to collector via SSH as root – password authentication failed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Gerald Schul

Hi J, Thanks for the screenshot. I have reached out to the internal team to address the error reported. I have also shared my email details for now. Do we get the same error even if you try to start a new message instead of replying to the existing message. Alternatively we could use the option Start a Discussion - - > Select Specific people Sri_vmware. Screenshot attached for reference.

Appendix D - This is not complete. If you happen to have SSH keys on your client depending on the client order it may offer those keys first, causing an issue as you reduce the "MaxAuthTries" to "2". I have two SSH keys that are tried before it would default to password. While I can change the order of the attempted auth methods it may be easier to document that it may be required to be increased to something larger. The default is 6.

Got the email on Monday. Downloaded and installed the collector, configured proxy and that all worked. Tried to link to my account and received the error below. I was not asked to select an EA The My VMware account or EA number you have selected is not associated with a Skyline enabled entitlement account. Please visit https://www.vmware.com/support/services/skyline.html to signup to be a part of our next adoption wave. The account is correct as I get a different error if I mistype the password - so that shows me that it is connecting via the proxy. Your MyVMware username and/or password do not match our records. Please try logging in again or go to https://my.vmware.com to reset your password. I have three EA's associated with my account so assume that is the cause but perhaps it is my account is not yet enabled? -- J
