@All, Last Monday (6th April), I appeared for VCAP5-DCD (VDCD550) and passed the exam. Even though I din't score high, but relieved with a passing score, anyway pass is a pass. Thanks for all esp Jason (virtualtiers) who pointed me in right direction. How I Prepared:- 1. Know your Risks, Constraints and Assumption 2. Know your Conceptual, Logical and Physical Design 3. Functional and Non-Functional Requirements 4. All vSphere Products and vSphere cluster settings. -sanjai

Certification is purely a personal thing. I'd love to do certs but i cant force others. The problem what i faced so far is, Very difficult to explain about the mentioned certifications (VCAP-DCA, DCD, CID, CIA) to the Senior Management, and Internal as well as External HR. Hope in your region that's not the case. Adding to that:- Develop the technical skill with the help of blueprint will assist..

How to prepare for the design exams, let it be DCD or CID? Does reading blueprint suffice or a real design experience reqd? If an associate doesnt have a real time design exposure, then how to nail these sort of exams? Also how to answer the design items presented in the exam? I'd like to know inputs from the community which would be valuable? -sanjai

@All, Could any of you let me know the difference between vSphere 4 Design Workshop and vSphere 5 Design Workshop? I'd already attended workshop for ver 4 few months back. How far will this v5 design workshop will help in future for those who are aspiring for DCD (on v5) or even for a (future) Consultant? Your input will be highly appreciated. sanjai

Yesterday, I gave my VCAP-DCD exam, It was one of the toughest NUT to crack, in my view it is tougher than DCA. Unfortunately i dint clear the exam but gained a lot of thought process to clear this exam in future. My score was around 50% and atleast now i know where i should concentrate more. But the experience gained through this exam was enormous. Tip:- This is not a technical exam, it is purely design oriented and also your thought process. I felt comfortable with the visio style questions, but the match the following questions are critical as far as iam concenrned. Study Tips:- 1. Learn VMware Design Methodology - Attend vSphere Design Workshop. 2. Follow Sean Crookston's DCD Index - Go through all PDF's. http://www.seancrookston.com/vcap-dcd-index/ Thanks Sean for your work. sanjai
