Hi, The vSphere Foundations exams are delivered online in a non-proctored format. So you can take them from your home or desk or anywhere with sufficient internet access. That also means that no one is watching if you look up the answers, which is where the "open book" comment comes from. But the reality is, with the number of questions and time allowed, you probably wouldn't have time to look up every answer. So, the best advice is study as much as you usually would, and rely on your other resources only if necessary. The elective exams (the second one you have to pass to become certified), are proctored and delviered in a restricted PearsonVue environment. That's the "empty your pockets" experience you mention. Best of luck to you!
Do you mean the certification pins given out at VMworld/vForum APAC? Those are only handed out in the Education & Certification lounge at those events.

If you look at the website for VMware Press (vmwarepress.com) it's not clear if they are going to release a new study guide for VCP6.5-DCV at all. It appears to be pointing people to buy the VCP6-DCV book and then use the additional resources from the authors (here: https://vloreblog.com/2017/05/05/vcp6-5-dcv-exam-preparation/ ) to cover the v6.5 materials. As always, I recommend any study plan begin with the exam objectives listing on the certification website.
That sounds like an issue with your account at PearsonVue. I would suggest you reach out to the support team at certification@vmware.com so that they can assist.
Yes, it's a set of videos that goes through every objective on the exam. If you click the link VMware Certification Exam Prep  you can see the full description as well as the purchase options.
There is a video-based Exam Prep course for this exam available here: VMware Certification Exam Prep

We just released a blog post this morning to clarify this Changes to the VCIX Badge: Simplifying the Ways to Earn - VMware Professional Services and Education Insights
Yep, that's a copy/paste error. I've corrected it on the site now. Thanks for pointing this out to us!

Hi, You might want to look into the Certification Exam Prep courses that are available: VMware Certification Exam Prep There's one for both the Foundations and DCV exam (assuming that's your planned cert). If you're interested in both, you may also want to consider a Premium Learning Zone subscription (VMware Learning Zone ) you'd get access to all the Exam Prep courses, plus the whole video library.

Hi, There is no time limit on when you have to take the exam after taking the course. However, exams do retire so if you wait too long you may miss it, and that's what happened. The VCP5-DCV exam based on vSphere 5.5 retired last March, so you can no longer take it. Your best option at this point is to follow path 2 outlined here: VCP6-DCV Certification

This is being corrected now.
Since your VCP5 expired, you now have to take a required training class.
Yes, we were able to correct the error after you pointed it out to us. Thank you for that.
You can find all the objectives and skills on the "Exam Topics" tab here: VMware Certified Advanced Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization Design Exam
Hi, On Demand training courses are not part of the Premium or Standard Learning Zone subscription packages. They are part of the Enterprise Learning Subscription package however.
If you are not currently a VCP in another area, then you would follow the "New Candidate Requirements" listed here: VCP7-CMA Certification   You do not need to earn your VCA6-CMA first.
l'm told they're coming out soon. By the end of next week if not sooner.
