Hi srvdev, We are currently experiencing a related problem, so I came to ask you if you have found a way to do this? By the way, I would also like to ask you how you send the request to the SDK?

Hi, everyone. It's me again. Previously I learned that the vmkfstools command can get information about the mapping blocks of virtual disks on physical LUNs, and in recent days when I was using veeam to do backups, I found such a file: *****_mapping.xml, which was deleted after the backups were completed, so I found a chance to download him, which really surprised me, and in the following days, I tried to analyze the structure of the file content, and found that he was the same as the data block area obtained using vmkfstools! It just contains a bit more comprehensive information, I guess there should indeed exist some interface to get the relevant data structure. So I found the following article:API HostDiskManager Endpoint / AcquireLeaseExt - VMware Technology Network VMTN Now I have the same doubt as the author? I would like to discuss how the SOAP request in the article should be called? PS: The documentation appendix on mapping is below, so I won't post it here.

Hi, I had a similar issue to yours and couldn't remove the orphaned VMs. To solve it I went to Cluster/Configure/vSphere cluster services/Datastore. In this path I added a different datastore to the one where the vms were, with that he destroyed them all and created them again.

Hello, we have two connected VCenters and did an Update to 7.0.3-22357613 some das ago. Update proceeded succesful, like we did some times before. 1-2 hours after update we had some powershell tasks running which creates machines and start them in specific cluster. We use typical powercli module. This time VCenter responds to powershell that there are no active hosts in cluster and task failed. The error was also shown in VCenter Webclient in task window at the bottom. In VCenter Webclient all was looking ok as is usual. All CLusters/Hosts active and no specific warnings or errors. VCenter Health in Managementconsole is good. After some hours we tried again and this time the process was successful and never happend again.  Even if the error is vanished quickly so i think this is still remarkable notice. It should never happen that VCenter respondes different/wrong to different requests. Someone experienced in this topic? please share your opinion.   Thanks, Hajo
@StadlerE  The user has not created any other posts or comments. I suggest creating a new post in the vCenter Server Discussions area (link posted in my previous reply)
I am having the same issue, I dont see a re-post in the suggested forum. Did you find a resolution?

Hello, Apologies in advance if this was not the correct subforum. This seemed like the discussion board that fit best. I'm running into this new issue when trying to deploy a VM on ESXi 8.0.0. Whenever I select my Datastores, it says it cannot connect to profile-driven storage service. I rebooted both my ESXi and vCenter, and then checked the services. The 'VMware vSphere Profile-Driven Storage Service' is set to Automatic, but is Stopped. When trying to start in the Web console, it will say "Starting" for about 3-5 minutes before dropping back to the Stopped Status. I then tried to stop and start the service within the shell via SSH. service-control --status sps gave me "Start Pending." After stopping the service and running service-control --start sps, It gave me the "Performing start operation on service sps..." and hung there for another 5-8 minutes. Once it was done, it gave me "Error executing start on service sps. install.ciscommon.service.failstart, args: [sps], localized: "An error occured while starting service 'sps''". This problem popped up out of the blue. I have 7 other healthy VM's and two healthy Datastores, but with this issue I can no longer create any new VM. I spent several hours digging through vmware documentation and various troubleshooting posts, but almost all of the posts are 5-10+ years old. Any nudges in the right direction would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Same here! I know this feature is experimental, but I'm not able squeeze any kind of performance information out of this API and get the following error no matter what parameters I provide: { "messages": [ { "args": [], "default_message": "Invalid data points filter: found empty set of Counters for provided set of (cid, metric, types, resources)", "localized": "Invalid data points filter: found empty set of Counters for provided set of (cid, metric, types, resources)", "id": "com.vmware.vstats.data_points_invalid_counter_filter" } ] }   I'm guessing it's user error due to not understanding this API call.  If anyone could provide an example of how to invoke this API, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you much!    R.

Hello,  I'd like to retrieve advanced performance metrics via a vmware API, but I can't figure out how (even after trying documentation and googling). I want to get power usage data for single VMs in an ESXI Cluster. I am able to see a chart based based on this data in vSphere representing the power usage by clicking on VM > Monitor > Performance > Advanced. I am using the System Version 7.0.3.01300 I tried the routes    /rest/vcenter/vm/my-vm-id   which unfortunately does not contain the power usage metrics and    /api/stats/data/dp?metric=power.capacity.usage&types=VM=my-vm-id   trying to specify the vm id and vm type in varous combinations always receiving the error message:  Invalid data points filter   Any thoughts/advice on this? (Please excuse me if the location of the post is wrong - this is my first post in the vmware communities)

I am looking for a PowerCLI script that can remove an old rule that is now missing a VM group. This rule was imported from an old vCenter and hence the missing VM group. Currently I am unable to edit, add or remove any VM Group or Host rule without receiving an error stating the following. "A specified parameter was not correct: VM Group Missing VM group in VM-VM dependency." Thanks
