mittim12, do you know what kind of enhancements can we expect? I'm very interested, as well! This is an issue we have ran into as well.

As mentioned in this old guide from the VDM 2.0 era, the easiest method would be to do a simple round-robin DNS combined with a low TTL, where you could just remove the failed server manually from DNS when it dies. Obviously this is not the most elegant solution. They discuss several other options in that guide as well. Another option would be to look at software or hardware based load balancers, like loadbalancer.org's virtual appliance.

View 4.0 does not work with vSphere 4.1. Composer is 32-bit only, and vCenter 4.1 only works with 64-bit Windows now. This is fixed in View 4.5, which is scheduled for release soon.

On your Connection Server, do you have "Direct connection to desktop" enabled? You can check by going to View Manager->Configuration->Servers->Click on your View Server->Edit. The View Security server does not work if this is enabled. You will have to create another connection server replica with this disabled as a work around. We ran into this issue recently, as we had to have direct connections to desktop enabled for Wyse's TCX software to fully function.

The biggest thing, in my opinion, when picking out a thin client is the OS on it (e.g. Wyse ThinOS, XPe, Linux, HP ThinPro). Be sure to compare them all and see which one you like the best, they are not all created equal. We have not really ran into any issues with the thin client not being powerful enough from a hardware standpoint, but as PCoIPinsider mentioned, be sure to check the HCL.
If you're getting a blank screen with Windows 7 as your Virtual Desktop OS with PCoIP, there is an issue with the Display driver. Try out this fix to replace the video driver in Windows 7.

If you log into the virtual desktop, you should see the profile being saved to the User Data Disk (typically the drive) under the Documents and Settings/Username/ directory. Is that being created? One issue I've seen is that if you create the master image and log in to that master image as a user before deploying it with View, the profile of that user will be created on the C: drive and will be deleted on recompose/refresh. Before deploying your master image, make sure to delete profiles from it so that they get created on the User Data Disk. If you have no intentions of ever refreshing or recomposing, then the other pool options might be a better choice for you. There could be some benefits but I believe it would be mostly negligible in the long run.

Since you are planning such a large deployment, be sure to keep in mind some of the limits on components in View. For example, View Composer can only create and provision up to 512 desktops per pool. Also, be sure to take into account other factors like ports on your virtual switches (default is 120), adding more than one connection server to handle the load, etc. Most of the limits you will run into are discussed in the VMware View Architecture Planning Guide and VMware View Composer Design Considerations. Good luck!
