Well the in-place upgrade is not really possible, so best way is to deploy new VM with Windows Server 2019 and install Horizon Connection Server on it as replica and join the existing PoD, then decommission older servers one by one as soon as all you new connection servers are up and running. Doing things this way will be done with absolutely no down time. Eric

Alex, Yes you need UAG (3.8 or later) for 3rd party IDP using SAML and TrueSSO associated with Horizon 7.11 and later even for internal and No, you can't enabling selective tunneling on UAG, as soon as you pass by any UAG then your connection is tunneled and all traffic will pass through it. Eric

I'd personally build a new master VM using Windows 1903 (or 1909) instead of updating the existing one or are you using Full Clone VM? And by the way, if the installation failed it's not Horizon Agent fault and you had the proof of that as you tried after uninstalling the agent, so issue more related to Windows it self. Do you have any error logs ? Eric
Agree, issue is not with MFA RSASecurID as authentication work and you were able to continue and launch the VM (or trying to), so what's exactly the error ? what's the version of Horizon ? Eric

As you have a version < 7.5.2 check first this KB : VMware Knowledge Base (Windows 10 1809 desktops experience performance issues and may become "Agent Unreachable" state if the High Precision Event Timer (HPET) is disabled.) You can also follow this one : VMware Knowledge Base (Troubleshooting Agent Unreachable status in VMware Horizon View) BR Eric

Hi What's the version of your Horizon environment ? What kind of pool ? Are all VMs get a DHCP address ? (check if you DHCP scope is not full) There's no hard limite between licenced VM and deployed VM (excepted on ESX servers licensed with VDI licenses) Eric
Are you sure you don't have any issue with your load balancer between UAG and Horizon (sessions persistance) or in front of UAG ? Did you check logs in your Connection servers ?

I'd rather make test using Instant clone instead of Linked clone as it's depreciated. But yes look at the log, and - ensure you selected "Linked Clone" when you installed Horizon Agent - ensure you have a KMS server otherwise check VMware Knowledge Base - ensure the account use by Composer is able to add/delete account in AD

Yes you can, however when upgrading from a version of Horizon 7 earlier than Horizon 7 version 7.8, some user authentication settings will change. How these user authentication settings affect the user experience depends upon the client. See the Horizon Client documentation at https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Horizon-Client/index.html. Update sequence is detailed here : VMware Knowledge Base Eric
You're right, for people interested by the difference between virtual hardware version, you can find all details in this KB: VMware Knowledge Base Eric

No that must be a domain that anybody can resolv on Internet and it could totally different from your internal domain name So : You can create for exemple an account on dyndns.com (check if your router can update dydns server in case you have a dhcp address) or You can bye your own domain name (but you need to be sure that the registar can host your DNS server. In my case, I bought my own domains and my dns servers are provided by my registar (www.gandi.net) and I have a fixed internet IP address.

Install your VSS (View Security Server) and pair it with your VCS (View Connection Server), note : the security server don't have to be a member of AD but it must resolv VCS name Add your security server on your VCS ( Configuration \ Server \ Security Servers \ Add) Name : name it as you want External Url : <external_hostname>.<your_domain>:443 Click on "Create Configuration File" and save this file on the Security Server as C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Server\sslgateway\conf\locked.properties (yes youhave to rename config.properties to locked.properties) Restart "VMware View Security Server" service Configure your router to route external_ip:port_443 to vss_internal_ip:port_443 That's all Note : You mustn't check the "Direct connection to desktop" box on VCS configuration

Don't you have Port Forwarding on your modem ? I personaly used a Linksys router (WRT54GS) (but I can also do it from the admin console of my adsl box), so I set Port forwarding to forward all trafic from external IP on port 443 to my Security Server with a local IP and it works perfectly.

That depand of how you want to deploy VM : If you want to use Composer and so linked clone then you need nothing else. If you want to deploy "standard" VM from a template then you can : Used sysprep directly in the VM (I personnaly don't like this solution) or put XP's sysprep files in the VC (as for servers) and so used VC Customization wizard to deploy new VMs and customize them.
