Thanks sjesse, that didn't remove the *.zip folders so I had to right click the app in the application tree and select "retire". Quick related question, what do I lose by not having say Notepad and Office settings stored in the DEM Profile instead of the profile container? I'm wondering if I need DEM at all if I'm just going to use GPO for the environment settings or if I keep DEM, am I suppose to delete/retire every single application under the DEM General\Application tree so it doesn't keep that data from being controlled by the profile container? Let me know.

Thanks for reading. There seems to be user config data in two places and I'm not sure if this slows down login times unnecessarily. Even after using FSLogix profile containers, the DEM Profiles share for interesting data aka app config data still persists in %username%\archives\applications\Notepad.zip. I deleted this with the entire DEM Profile and it came right back despite that it's already in the profile container I'm assuming anyways. Is this by design or is FSLogix not capturing this data? I can't turn it off to test since I'm in NoAD mode and would have to redo the base image although I am testing in a lab before implimentation.
Just curious why you're adding another layer of complexity with fslogix when it's kinda redundant with DEM as far as user profile and config data? Are you trying to improve login speeds?
Gotcha, but just to be clear, you're saying that the local AppData folder within the base image will not be used by security scanning software or apps that are or aren't controlled by DEM?

Happy new years Can a writable volume via AppVolumes be used for instant clone user profiles? Is this a recommended industry standard or is the DEM folder redirection to a file server a better way In respects to login times and complexity? I'm not sure how many people are using writable volumes for this or if it's just recommended for Outlook OST files. I just know it's possible according to the vendor documentation. Thanks again

Happy new year I wanted to ask whether or not people are using DEM to redirect their AppData folder. I understand most of the application data is stored in the DEMProfiles? but as far as security scanners go, I'm trying to avoid that folder being scanned in the base image regardless of exemptions, if that's how it works. Any advice?

Thanks Kenobi but vRealize with Horizon is being deprecated which is why I was wondering if anybody has used or compared the ControlUp software that VMware I guess partnered with. Plus, I can't even download the Horizon management pack anymore without a special request. Do you have a link?

We have unacceptable 4+ minute login times with VDI that is preventing mass adoption. I heard vRealize with the Horizon management pack is being deprecated and replaced by ControlUp. Does anything have experience with using or comparing vRealize and ControlUp for the purpose of pinning down what's going on with the user login experience?
