Our VMs are 8 CPU with 60 GB RAM and 500 GB HDD. We use T4 cards with 4Q profiles, but planning to upgrade to L40s and 8Q soon. We are on the latest NVIDIA drivers.  How many monitors are you using? And what resolution? Does it make any difference if you use a single monitor? Is it using the NVIDIA Encoder? We also had a mouse lag issue that persisted for 6 months and when we created a new Windows 10 image from scratch, the issue went away.

Easiest fix will be to install any app for moving the mouse button at short intervals, I guess there are free apps which does that. But looking at the stringent security, I don't think your IT will allow to install anything. If you are allowed to use VMware Horizon Client on the PC, the IT should disable this setting.
We are using all these, but we use the GPUs for Autodesk and Adobe apps, not for video editing.

Hi David,  Happy to see your comment, I was with VMware EUC for for 13 years and we have worked together on a few projects like Enzo and early Horizon Cloud (Desktone days). Thanks for the response and happy to hear that the docs and getting improved. For the dedicated/persistent desktops, is there a way we can do the reimaging for the existing desktops? I guess we need to un-entitle the users? This is annoying and something which we should improve. Thoughts?
We had the same issue for one of the users who was using USB webcam, and this solution fixed it. Thanks much @jmacdaddy

We are running VMware Horizon Cloud Next-Gen. I can see there are a few bugs since its still in early stage, but I am still trying to find how a pool can be reimaged. E. g. I already have a pool and I want to do a recompose/push image operation like we do for Horizon On-Premises. I know we can create an image version, make the changes, add the marker and edit the pool to point to the new marker and its supposed to reimage the desktops. But what if there are are active connections? What if there are entitlements? Do we need to unentitle the users to complete the new image change? I tried this and I don't see any changes going into the desktops after editing the pool. The Techzone articles has ton of info about the overall architecture, but the official documentation as usual sucks and I couldn't find anything useful about the above.

I don't have a solution to this issue, but personally I wouldn't use App Volumes for heavy applications like Autodesk, Adobe etc. We have a bunch of such apps and we always keep them in the gold image and we use FSLogix for handling user profile. We always keep the usage of App Volumes minimal.

From my experience (we are running Defender on Instant Clones), enabling Defender will add some CPU overhead. The issue we were seeing specifically was CPUs hitting 100% when the users login and it settles after 1-2 minutes. After several unsuccessful calls with MS, we ended up adding more CPUs to the VMs (we already had plans to upgrade the VMs, so the decision was easy).
If you are on 7.13, you should be able to deploy instant clones and move users instead of deploying linked clones using composer.
I would open a support ticket with VMware because this looks like a bug to me.
You shouldn't mix connection server versions. Especially when the difference between the versions is huge like in this example.

Its not clear from the post which version of Horizon you are currently running. 7.10.3 or 2006? It says in the lab you have two connection servers, one on 7.10.3 and other on 2006. Are they part of the same cluster? If yes, that could be the reason for the errors.  Regarding your comment about migrating linked clones with persistent disks to instant clones, here is the official documentation from VMware: https://techzone.vmware.com/resource/modernizing-vdi-new-horizon#migration-scenario---persistent-disks-to-dem--folder-redirection--fslogix-office-container
How are you managing user profiles now? If you are using Persona Management, here is a KB which might help: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2118056
Which URL are you using to access the UAG web interface? It should be https://<UAG_IP>:9443/admin/index.html.

Linked clones are deprecated in Horizon version 8 so you don't need a View Composer. To upgrade from Horizon 7.10.x to Horizon 8, you have to first upgrade to Horizon 7.13 which supports both linked clones and instant clones. Once you are in Horizon 7.13, you can create instant clones and move the users. This should be easier for you because its a lab environment. Once instant clones are in place, delete the linked clone pool and remove View Composer, and then upgrade to Horizon 8.  Also, you may need to go to a higher version that 2206 because upgrade from 7.13 to 2206 is not supported (the latter was released prior to 7.13). Please see the supported upgrade paths here: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/85517  All the information required for migration is here: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/89840  Hope this helps.

For automated full clones, you can use some script or third party system management tools like SCCM. For Automated linked clones and instant clones, make the changes in the master vm (golden image) and push the changes to the VM via recompose (linked clones) or push image (instant clones) operation.
This is supported with certain limitations. Please see https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/80673
