This looks so promising but it sounds like from their documentation (who knows if it is accurate) that it may still be 1 to 1 with Virtual Machines. Maybe VMWare can somehow make it 1 to Many Virtual Machines with this card. Time will only tell (I hope soon) or maybe an announcement at VMWorld 2010.

You currently cannot change the resolution on a Zero Client with a Teradici Chip. When you connect into VMWare View, it uses the max supported resolution. You can change it once inside View, but once you log off and log back in, it will reset itself. Teradici has already stated that they are looking at this for a future firmware release. It will probably make it into the next version of their firmware as many people have asked. Please see this topic for more details. http://communities.vmware.com/message/1498051#1498051
Here is the best thing I have found so far for Windows 7 and View 4.X. http://www.creedtek.com/?p=37
Make sure you are putting this key on the VM. Once it is in place, reboot the VM to make sure the setting gets picked up.

Like I said, there is some conflicting information or not enough detailed information about this issue/feature. I am not saying your right or wrong, just giving my two cents as I believe USB is currently working and or supported, but not the analog MIC port. I myself haven't tested the USB with bi-directional audio, but I have read from some users that it does work and are able to do transcription, etc. http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/VMware-View4-PCoIP-IG-EN.pdf Now this may just be the PCoIP protocol itself and like I said, I have also heard and as you just confirmed, the MIC port doesn't work for bi-directional.

If you search the forums and the web, you will find conflicting information about bi-directional audio and View 4. If you read the release notes for View 4 with PCoIP, it states that HD Bi-directional audio is supported. Here is what it says in the PCoIP informational guide from VMware "Bi-directional audio of recording quality for dictation or transcription needs." Now, I am not sure if this supported with PCoIP Clients or if you need to be using the VMware View Client. Also, I beleive only USB headsets or usb devices will work, meaning you cannot use analog MICs or headsets. I am not sure if you can test this in your environment, but that would be the best solution to see if it truly works.

Does this break External Access though, from the Security Servers?
I am having the same problem. Any update on this issue?

This question may have been asked in seperate threads, but I am looking at PcoIP Zero Clients (Samsung and FX100) and I am needing to support lower resolutions with certian users. What are my options, if any? I can change it once logged in, but it resets at reconnection. These users have to be at 1024x768 but I might be able to go a little higher. Do I just need to connect their devices to a 17inch LCD?
That damn right shift key issue is starting to become an issue for my users. I wish VMWare and or Teradici would resolve it. I heard 3.1 is coming by the end of the month.
Teradici is calling it Kiosk mode but it will not be out until around June. Here is the thread about it http://communities.vmware.com/message/1488206#1488206

I agree with you Gunnarb and have seen what PCoIP can do outside of View too. I just hope VWMare takes note of what their competitors are doing along with what their customers are seeing and needing with View. Lets just hope they are able to come up with a solution in the near future, but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't already have something in the works.

I think I read somewhere that it would come down to good will, ensuring you had the licenses purchased. So maybe purchase the 1,000 with Linked Clone (Premier) and then its just good will that you have the other 500 licenses purchased. I have never seen a limit count per say being enforced, but yet I have never reached the limit yet.
What is the status of this issue? Has it been resolved in 4.0.1? If not, what is the ETA?

I just read the announcement. It sounds like, from what marketing is saying, that MS and Citrix will have a more robust multimedia experience in their products. We will have to wait to see if this is true from what they state on paper, but it sounds very promising. I really do hope that VMWare is going to release 4.5 with better multimedia optimizations to allow for a better, true desktop experiance, especially with Flash. I am still not seeing that great of performance from the server side when it comes to Flash based content or any 2d graphic programs. I started a topic about this, as I work in K-12 which has a lot of multimedia requirements and VDI has to meet these needs if we go down this path. I guess only time will tell.

Currently there is no way to put a graphics card in a server and offload the graphics processing from VM/ESX with View. The only way to do that is using the 1:1 model from Teradici. I have had discussion with VMWare and Teradici at a very high level, but I think it is something they are looking at. It sounds like it is just a design challenge of somehow offloading the graphics processing from all the VMs in ESX to a GPU. They would either need to create a special GPU or somehow get the main GPU vendors like Nvidia and ATI to create a driver or what ever it would be to allow this. To sum it up, in order to have a dedicate GPU to do the processing, you need to do the 1:1 model with Teradici. You can broke this with the View agent, but its not VMWare View with VMs in ESX. Lets just hope VMWare and Teradici are truly think about this concept of GPU offloading. I didn't know that MS and Citrix had announced RemoteFX when I first posted, which I guess allows Hyper V to use a shared GPU. I guess Microsoft is able to do this now. Here is a good link from Brian Madden The question now is, where is VMWare on this type of technology?
