Hi JMatz135 Do you have a solution to stopping the desktop session from starting until all the AppStacks are fully initialised? In previous releases of APV, we had lots of issues with extended logon times. APV v2.12 was supposed to allow you to toggle the Async load On and off with reg keys / variables, however it now seems to be the default behaviour! (Async mounting is supposed to be tech preview?) Now we have upgraded, the users are complaining in a huge way. The desktop cannot really be used until the app stacks are ready (it hangs even if you try to use locally installed apps not on AppStacks), so it really seems pointless. I'm going to have a play with the VolWait reg keys, but you say this is being ignored? Regards Sean

Hello I have installed Adobe Acrobat XI Pro into an AppStack and its working fine, however when it launches the user is prompted to register the product. On our View 5 installation (using Persona Management) when we click "Skip" and "Do not ask again", the user is never prompted again. On our new Horizon 7 solution using AppVolumes and UEM, the user is asked every logon, even though they have selected to Skip and "Do not ask again", which is really annoying. Has anyone had this behaviour previously? Regrads, Sean

Hi Raymond As your example shows, there are no settings there? My question is... Are there a set of default import / export settings applied (which we cannot see) or is the application template blank? i.e. no settings are exported by default? My expectation was that by supplying an 'Application Template' it would just work out of the box. From the attachement, I have just added a simple Filesystem export using the [IncludeFolderTrees] section to export my Templates & Normal.dot If a template is being supplied, surely it should do something? It would be far more useful to have the template with all the possible export registry keys and folder locations commented out, which could then be uncommented to activate them? Am I missing the point here? Regards, Sean

Hello When I configure an Office application using the built in templates, very little appears to be exported / imported. Is there any documentation available that of lists the configuration settings included in these templates? or is it that there are no registry of file-system exports configured? as none are listed on the Import/Export page That being the case, what is the point of these templates? Does anyone have a list of the typical 'managed' locations for registry and file-system for each Office 2010 / 2013 application? Regards Sean

How do I view what settings are currently set as when you edit the ini file for say Word, its just a jumble of characters like its encrypted Thanks Sean

OK, So I am getting a bit further now..... If I remove the Condition Set from Word 2013 and Excel 2013 the settings are retained following a logoff / logon/ This kind of proves that the slow attachment of the AppStack means that the Condition Set for Office 2013 which seraches for the Path %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office15" returns negative and the settingas are not loaded. I can open a support ticket with VMware to troubleshoot / resolve this. In the meanwhile I will add Office 2013 to the base image to prove this catagorically. As an aside, when I make changes that affect the Normal.dot, these changes are not retained either, even with the above fix in place. It seems that the default Office 2013 Templates do not 'manage' the Normal.dot location, so when I logoff the non-persistent desktop the Normal.Dot is deleted with it. I have used a UEM Folder redirection policy to redirect 'Roaming AppData', which redirects the Normal.Dot to a Network share, which is then imported next logon and the settings are retained. Is this the best mwthod to do this? or can I add the file path of the Normal.dot location to the UEM file location list to get UEM to manage it instead? Thanks in advance Sean

Hi Pim I had enabled Direct Flex as it appears that when UEM executes, the AppStack containing Office2013 is not ready. I see the following in the debug log: Conditions: Evaluating condition set 'Microsoft Office 2013.xml' 2016-11-04 12:19:10.098 [DEBUG] Conditions: Check for path 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15' = false 2016-11-04 12:19:10.098 [INFO ] Skipping ADMX-based settings due to conditions ('Pre-Prod Office 2013.xml') 2016-11-04 12:19:10.102 [INFO ] No ADMX-based settings applied When I remove the Conditional Set for Office 2013 the settings are applied (Disable First Run etc) but the setting changed in the previous session are still not retained. However, settings made in Abobe Acrobat, Windows Explorer and Wordpad have all been retained Log File Attached
I will give this a try next week and let you know the reslts - Thank you for your assistance Regards< Sean

Guys, this is exactly what I am looking for! I am working on a project where the company uses notes, and I have been thinking how we can deliver the application with AppVolumes and manage with UEM. One question...Does it matter if notes is installed in Single User mode or Multi-User Mode? and if so, which one is the recommended installation method? My environment will use Stateless desktops (refresh at logoff) APV 2.11 and UEM 9.x Do I need to consiolidate the suggestions from EricNicholsEricNichols or will a consiolidated download be made available? Thanks Sean

Hello I have a Horizon 7 installation using non-persistent desktops (refresh at logoff), VMware AppVolumes and UEM v9.x I have installed UEM and have run Easy Start to add the Office 2013 application templates. My users have a mandatory profile configured, so I am hoping to use UEM to import / export application settings. When a user logs on for the first time, I can see the EUM profile get created. I change some settings in Windows Explorer (show hidden files etc), I change some Word 2013 settings (default font size) Then I logoff. The profile archive is created and the settings for Windows Explorer and Office 2013 (including Winword) are exported into the archive. Looking at the Debug log, I can see that this all happens as expected and there are no errors logged. When I log back on (to a different desktop in the pool), the settings for Windows Explorer are retained, but the Office 2013 settings I modified are lost. To troubleshoot, I have created a standard Windows 7 VM and installed office 2013 locally. When I logon to this machine, the Office settings are being reatined (but this could be due to the profile being created on the C:\Users on the desktop and being available at next logon). Everything else in UEM appears to work ok, but this is causing me a lot of headaches with users complaining their settings are not retained Can anyone offer any advice please? Regards, Sean

I have an existing Horizon 6.2 environment with a number of Windows 7 & 10 Pools. I have deployed IDM v2.71 and have joined it to AD, and added the View Pools. All of the AD Groups for the entitlements to View Pools are successfully synced, and the View Connector now shows the desktop pools and their entitlements for users in the Workspace One portal App Centre. the pools are configured for 'Automatic', however they are not being added (and cannot seem to be added) to 'My Apps' It feels like i am very close to getting it working, but something is not configured correctly Thanks in advance Sean

Hello Can anyone share any experiences they might have with managing IBM Notes settings with VMware UEM? We are wish to deliver Notes v9 on an AppVolumes AppStack to users who are configured with a Mandatory User Profile. Notes does not behave like the majority of applications, and requires a lot of up front customisation. We therefore want to create a pre-defined settings package to help with first time configuration, but then also want to ensure that the various files (notes.ini, names.nsf etc) are located in the network folder structure where they reside when used on a physical desktop As always, thanks in advance Regards, Sean

Hello aRJayL Thank you very much for the information. We have had this issue affecting our Horizon 6.22 solution for almost 3 weeks now. We have rebuilt pretty much every component of the solution, including the vSAN, Connection Servers, UEM solution and AppVolumes 2.9 and 2.10 servers multiple times. We have also rebuilt out Windows 7 images multiple times, installing agents in varying different methods and orders. TBH it been an absolute nighmare, and VMware Technical Support have struggled to find a solution despite taking lots of logs and quite a few remote sesisons to our systems. Finally, last night, I added the 2 x Windows hot-fixes to our build script and added 2 x registry keys suggested by VMware for AppVolumes, then recomposed our Linked Clone Pools. Today we have not had a single session hang at logon - the first clear day for two weeks. Regards, Sean

Hi Raymond I have already  completed the training below, which was quite useful.  I have been in touch with VMware today and the first UEM training is to be scheduled in the UK in May. I do find the time lag between VMware 'on-boarding' new products and via acquisition and training being offered extremely frustrating. As a consultant, I am expected to know the EUC stack inside out, but I am finding it increasingly difficult when training is not available. Thanks for the assistance. BTW do you still do the training yourself? Thanks Sean
