Hello, Need some help with the Office 2010 activation on a Horizon 7.8 Farm.  We are using Instant clones and everything has been fine with Office 2010 on the desktops until yesterday.  We are now suddenly getting the Office activation box when opening Office on the virtual desktops; I am a little confused as to why this suddenly started and how to fix it permanently.  We ARE using KMS activation. sjesse I see in this post that you recently switched to activate directly based activation...what does that mean? Thank you!
Office is installed on the Master Image, not an AppStack. No changes were made to Office.

Appreciate the help!!

Hello, We are having some issues with AppStacks not being applied to users in our VMware 6.0 environment.  We have 2 AppVol servers and 2 connection servers.  We have rebooted one of the AppVol servers but it appears the problem persists.  We are running App Volumes 2.15 1) If we reboot an AppVol server, should the second one be rebooted as well? 2) If we reboot an AppVol server, do we need to reboot the Connection servers so the AppVol server re-establishes connection to the connection servers? What is best practice for rebooting the servers in a 6.0 environment? I appreciate a quick response! Thank you!

We have a wildcard certificate for our domain (internal and external) applied to the machine.  And following that KB I have copied the Thumbprint of the wildcard cert to the SSLHash for the Blast entry in the registry.  The strange thing is the SSLHash value changes after a restart of the Blast service on the Golden Image or reboot of the Golden Image. What would cause the value to change? Regarding the "Connect using DNS Name" GPO setting would this be for the Image/desktops and NOT the connection servers?

We are currently receiving a certificate error with connecting to our new Horizon 7.8 Farm via a browser. It appears the certificate error relates to the BLAST certificate.  I have gone through this VMware KB (VMware Knowledge Base ) and followed the steps on the Golden image but the error persists. When I look at the certificate error via the Chrome browser, this is what it looks like: I have imported the Blast certificate into the Trusted Root Certificate and the intermediate Certificate stores on the Golden image however the error persists.  It already exists in the Personal Certificates store.  One of the strange things is when I copy the Thumbprint of our wildcard certificate for our local domain and paste it in the sslhash value of the  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware Blast\Config registry key the  pasted value does not stay after a restart of the Golden Image. The strange thing is at one time this was working but we do not know when it stopped working; possible when we introduced the UAGs. We are very frustrated and looking for any suggestions. Thank you!

Hello, I have installed OpenOffice on one of my Golden Images and am trying to determine how to "disable" the Welcome screen for each user when they launch OpenOffice after connecting to a Horizon 7.8 desktop.  Currently, when I logon to a View desktop and launch OpenOffice, the Welcome screen appears. Is it possible to either disable this or have the settings predefined so the screen doesn't appear? Additionally, I would like to set Microsoft Word as the default format for text documents and Microsoft Excel as the default for spreadsheet. Thank you!

So after looking further, I discovered the 2nd shortcut is being created by UEM.  I have figured out how to set the default page to be our Organization's webpage through the UEM Management Console.  We will use this instead of GPO for the IE shortcut.

Currently in our environment, we have TWO Internet Explorer icons on our View Desktops; one of them defaults to our organization's webpage and is placed on the desktop via GPO.  The second one is a mystery - I do not understand how that second icon is getting there and frankly am not sure where to look.  We have combed through our GPOs and do not see anything there for the second IE shortcut (which does NOT default to our home, just the default MSN site). Does anyone have any suggestions on where this second icon maybe be coming from and where I should look?  I am fairly new to VDI, UEM, etc. so I apologize for what seem like a silly question. Thank you!

Hello, We have setup a mandatory profile for our View Desktops and I am curious to know how we can confirm the profile is indeed being used??  When I login to a view desktop, I look up C:\Users and see the mandatory.v2 folder however I also see a folder for the user logged into the desktop. How can I know for sure the mandatory profile is being used? Thank you.
Yes, I did.  Thank you.
Thank you for the quick reply. No, we are not using RDSH Hosts.

We are in the process of setting up a new Horizon 7 environment from "scratch" and have gotten to the point of creating a new Desktop Pool.  The Pool is created however with a red x in the View Administrator console.  When I click on it to View the Summary, configuration, etc., the error below pops up (see image below as well): com.vmware.vim.vmomi.client.exception.ConnectionException: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out. Part of the error contains "java".  Does Java need to be installed on our connection servers? Thank you!
