Sorry for the very late reply, but no. I was never able to make it work. After a lot of research I came to the conclusion it will not work on physical machine.  It would have been a great solution for some of the apps we were working with, so maybe some day. Did you ever get it working?

Sorry for the late reply, we are running 8.7.0. This will be a like for like staying at 8.7. Just moving it off the 2012 server and moving it to a new 2019 server. We have a total of 4 server. 2 are already 2019 but they are the replica servers. No linked clones.  Just instant clone pools. Thank you, I guess I am just looking for the wrong keywords. I appreciate it Bob

I am working on my first migration of Horizon. I found one post. see below, but its 2020 and Horizon 7. I don't know if this applies. Does anyone have any experience in migrating these servers, does the article apply still? Here are the steps I found from an article. Going from server 2012 to 2019. We have 4 server, 2 of the replicas are already 2019. High level steps to migrate connection server to 2019 OS will be as follow: > Take a snapshot of all CS, composer server including composer DB backup and connection server ADAM database VMware Knowledge Base > Install windows 2019 CS as a replica to existing 2012 server. > Once installation is finished, make sure replication is working fine between both servers by running repadmin command. This is critical before moving forward. VMware Knowledge Base > Do the same for remaining 2019 servers. > Decommission existing 2012 servers following VMware Knowledge Base . This should done as early as possible otherwise ADAM database may get corrupt since 2012 and 2019 server will be using different AD LDS schema and keeping both in replication for longer run may cause conflicts. > After this you can migrate composer to 2019 server as below: On new composer server, prepare the ODBC connection and create a system DSN to point to view composer DB. On the old server, stop view composer service. Install view composer on new server and point it to the ODBC. Once installation is finished , login to view admin page. Navigate to View configuration > Servers > Edit > View composer >Edit and put the new server FQDN name and reauthenticate with user name and password > Click on 'Verify server information' > Ok. Test the provisioning now. In case of any confusion or doubt, please contact vmware support. View solution in original post

I am attempting to get App Volume working in VHD. Currently we have an App Volume manager in production for hosting apps to the VM's. We wanted to test AV on physicals. I was able to install App volumes on the new server, but when I launched it, it went to the registrar with the app volumes manager instead of the option to configure it. I Accepted the cert. When I go to register under configuration>Machine Managers>Register Machine Manager, and when I try and change type, VCenter is the only type I can choose. I can see the other types. I am having a hell of a time finding any documentation to clearly point me in a direction. It sounds like it shouldn't be this difficult. This is my first time installing App Volumes, someone stood up the original server. I feel like I am just maybe missing a feature like Hyper-V or something simple.  I'd be very thankful if someone has had a similar issue and can point me in the right direction.

Thank you for your reply. I truly appreciate it. I dont know if I wasnt clear enough, but UWF looks more for the virtual environment? This is for Apps getting deployed to physical workstations, not virtual WS. It works great in the VDI environment, but it cant establish a full connection in the physical environment. One of the issues I see associated with my workstation in the logs is this error message. "RvSphere: Found 0 virtual machine(s) matching IP..." Am I missing something?    Thank you

I think I already know the answer, build another server. But if someone knows a workaround that I dont need to do that, that would be great. I'm currently running the latest App Volume Manager, 4.7, unless they recently updated again. I have it configured for VCenter, and I think I need another server configured for VHD In-Guest services. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. I totally missed that setting.  Works like a charm.

So I am having a discussion with my co-worker about the VMware environment and service account for Kiosks. The question is, is there any method of creating a pool that can all use the same service account or do you need to create a service account for each VM in the pool? I know that if I try to log on to the same pool on 2 different computers, it will kick me out.
Has anyone had any experience migrating Horizon 7 to SQL 2016 from 2012? Any concerns I should be aware of? Thanks Robert
Thank you for the FYI. That explains my issue. Looks like we will be doing an upgrade.

Thank you. I didn't actually think of shortcutting the pool to the desktop, but should solve my issue and makes sense.

Not the same, but I had a problem with USB redirection. I ended up working with VMWare tech support and it ended up being the View connection certificates. They deleted them and that was oddly the fix. I want to say it was the VMWare view certs as well as the the VMware. Below are a summary removed the certificates from vmware view and vmware Horizon view folders .

I know there is a way to globally set a idle disconnect in View connection server. My question is, is there any way to set a disconnect on the Horizon Client. What I mean is as soon as the person logs off they see the available pools menu, so if they walked away and left it unlocked, someone could log in behind them and get on one of the clones without being challenged. I know I could turn off SSO, but we were looking for a client level control or pool level control rather than a global control. Hope that made sense.

Thought about that and no, that was not it. I had even tried a different agent version, no dice.
We are not using UEM here in our environment unfortunately. I did look to see if by chance the key even existed, and it does not. Thank you though.
Curious if you had received an answer to this? My guess would be you have conflicting Group policies? Or the policy is not getting applied.
