I will like to know as how the VDI connection works. below scenario: Conection server is in domain xyz. VDI is created in domain pqr. 1. While trying from client machine to access the connection server then VDI using horizon view client(PCoIP/ Microsoft RDP) how will be connecion be established from start the point we connected the connection server--which protocol and which port? How is connection between client--->connection server--->VDI (accessed using PCoIP) How is connection between client--->connection server--->VDI (accessed using Microsoft RDP) 2. While trying from client machine to access the connection server then VDI using html web access how will be connecion be established from start the point we connected the connection server--which protocol and which port? How is connection between client--->connection server--->VDI (accessed using PCoIP) How is connection between client--->connection server--->VDI (accessed using Microsoft RDP) Pls suggest. It will be great help Thanks in advance.

As I wrote above, Flash URL redirection will not work with HTML access.                HTML access and FLASh URL redirection both are components of installer Remote experience agent. And I understand from your saying that if HTML access is installed and used one cant install and use Flash URL redirection. Is it the thing? What issues do you have when using the View Client? As page 27of pdf http://www.vmware.com/pdf/horizon-view/horizon-view-52-feature-pack-document.pdf  says to verify flash url redirection is installed by carrying out following steps:       1 Start a virtual desktop session that uses PCoIP. 2 Open the Task Manager. 3 Verify that the ViewMPServer.exe  process is running on the desktop. when I am trying these steps I am not getting any process running named ViewMPServer.exe  in task manager. What OS are you using on the client and the agent? OS version is windows 7 enterprise 64 bit, Remote experience agent version is 3.0 that is part of  feature pack of 3. View agent version is 5.3.1 Have you configured the Adobe Media Server and added the configuration to the MHTML-webpage? I have not reached till this step. I am stucked at step of verify flash url redirection is installed. Still to be clear what exactly is adobe media server. I dont have any adobe media server in our infrastructure.
Yes i am experimenting Flash url redirection with horizon view client. But still I am facing this issue.

Hi, I have implemented HTML access for VMware Horizon View. I runned remote experience agent and installed HTML access component only and web access of VDIs are working fine. I have to now try flash url redirection. I installed this component too by running again .exe of remote experience agent. I am following document : http://www.vmware.com/pdf/horizon-view/horizon-view-52-feature-pack-document.pdf which says to verify feature is installed by checking if ViewMPServer.exe process is running on desktop by taking a PCoIP session of virtual machine at page  number 29 of this pdf. But i am not able to locate this process. checked in task manager too. Can anybody suggest me how I can check if this process is runnning?

Yes thats coerect we need to add template to active directory and apply policy to VDI OU suing GPO. But I will like to know at what stage I need to edit the policy configurae redirection policy for VDI- is it first edit in connection server and then add to active directory or first add to active directory and then edit that policy. Also how do I edit it if I suppose it has to be added first in connection server and then to be added to Active directory.
Not yet. Is it that we cannot  change clipboard redirection at present on connection server by opening file in notepad?

Hi, In our VMware view 5.3.1 environment, copy paste is corking in only one direction (client to View desktop). To enable them in both direction I browse to path  c:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Server\extras\GroupPolicyFiles\ on the View Connection Server, The opened pcoip.adm template. Here I not getting how to edit policy " Configure clipboard redirection" in both direction File part reads like this: ServerClipboardState="Configure clipboard redirection" ServerClipboardStateExplain="Determines the direction in which clipboard redirection is allowed. You can select one of these values:\n\n-Enabled client to server only (That is, allow copy and paste only from the client system to the View desktop.)\n-Disabled in both directions\n-Enabled in both directions\n-Enabled server to client only (That is, allow copy and paste only from the View desktop to the client system.)\n\nClipboard redirection is implemented as a virtual channel. If virtual channels are disabled, clipboard redirection does not function.\n\nThis setting applies to the server only.\n\nWhen this setting is disabled or not configured, the default value is Enabled client to server only." Also let me knwo on which line of this file i have to enable virtual channels

Hi, Scenario: Have Horizon View 5.3 setup.  Have created view pools. Have entitled Active directory security global groups to View pools. While assiging users to view pools, we add users to active directory group from Active directory and then assign user to View VDIs. While doing this we face a pop up that "Add user as an individual entitlement". To my thought I should not get this as group which is entitled to View pool has this user as its member. So user is indirectly entitled to View pool. Additinally, we have ticked "Enable Automatic Assignment", however we still need to adopt this manual method of assigning  users to View VDIS as we need to also provide admin rights to users before allowing them to access VDI. So we manually assign VDIs to users and provide admin rigths. Any help on how could I avoid this pop up message?
Thanks for your quick answers:)

Hi, Thanks Linjo I was excepting this answer. Then if such is the case does for every read operation in linked clone on delta disk goes to replica in the pool and does it uses copy on write mechanism? May be then it is the reason to keep replica VM on SSD storage?

Hi, Thanks for your post. My query is how linked clone conserves space as compared to full clone.  I think it should be somewhere related to OS delta disk created in linked clone.  For ex: Parent image has disk of 40 GB. If I create a full clone it will be 100% copy so it will too have 40 GB disk. If Linked clone deployed from parent image it will have 4 disk: 1) Opearting system delta disk of 40 GB, 2) internal disk of 20 MB. 3) disposal disk say of 2 GB(which is optional) and 4) persistent disk of say 2 GB. Then where is the storage space less? How linked clone is saving 90% of space compared to a full clone.
I have read somewhere that linked clone in VMware View saves 90% of storage space as compared to full clone. Could anybody help me explain how linked clones created using VMware view saves 90%... See more...

Could anybody help me explain how linked clones created using VMware view saves 90% of storage space compared to full clones? Also is there any difference between a cloned VM from vcenter to full clone VDI created using VMware View?

The following is the scenario for view datastore and queries related to it. Could you help us out answering these queries and overcoming it. Scenario: We are using Horizon View 5.3. We have around 30 pools. We are using Storage DRS cluster (size at present 2 TB) with datastores of 1 TB each (1TB is standard size followed). We are giving/pointing this one datastore cluster(2 TB) to all 30 pools to store replica, persistent and OS delta disk. On these scenario the questions are: 1) Will we have to go with storage DRS disabled on datastore cluster as view does not allow view  VDIs to be storage vmotioned ? 2) If in case this datastore cluster gets full, and additional datastore is added to datastore cluster or if existing datastore cluster is expanded, it will rebalance and refresh too(as rebalance includes refresh operation), will it affect all the VDIs of all the pools? 3) If yes, what will be the solution to overcome this. 4) If yes, to our observation user assignment of VDI from view admin portal remains same however user's local admin rights gets removed from VDI (OS end) and additional softwares installed by user in C drive gets removed. Please also let us know if there will be any other consequences which we are missing. Thanks in advance
