Hi, my customer has only one Desktop pool for internal and external connections. He wants to deny all USB devices except Camera and Headset for specific Groups. With DEM Smart Policies (User Environment) I an only deny all USB devices without an exception. With Smart Policies on Computer Environment I could specify USB devices, but I can not define the Horizon Client Condition or User Group Is it possible to configure this behavior with DEM? I'm pretty sure its possible, but I dont get it. All internal connections should be able to use USB devices, only external connections should be restricted to some USB devices. Thanks in Advance! Sebastian

Hi @kvmw2130  thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay. I wanna try bandwidth options from Smart Policies, especially the low Internet Option. So I've created the following Policy:   After the user login, it seems the network profile doesn't work correctly. I can still see a high bandwidth, FPS over 30 and a good Video Quality: The registry keys are set, audio disable works so far. But the user, or the session, is still consuming a lot of bandwidth with high quality. If I disconnect and reconnect to the same desktop, the quality is much lower and the bandwidth consumption too, also the FPS: Maybe I just have a wrong understanding about Smart Policies, but I thought I can configure a Bandwidth Profile and the DEM changes some settings for the user session (qualitiy, FPS etc.) to lower the consumed Bandwidth? Please let me know if I'm wrong. In my case it only works after reconnect.  Kind regards Sebastian

Hi @kvmw2130  thanks for your reply, I started thinking nobody is using Smart Policies because of no answer Unfortunately the shortcut doesn't change the behaviour, the Smart Policies doesn't apply on login, only on reconnect though I don't have any triggered task for reconnection. As I said, I'm using vGPU and App Volumes, could that cause this issue? It's just a test environment for customer, but i would like to get it working. Kind Regards Sebastian

Hi Community, I'm testing Horizon Smart Policies (DEM 2111) for a Customer and I cant get it to work on login. The Smart Policies only apply after reconnect, even without triggered reconnect task. I wanna try the different bandwidth profiles, but every time I log into the desktop, there is no applied Setting from Smart Policies. If I disconnect and reconnect to the Desktop, the bandwith profile applies. The Smart Policies should take action on login, right? I'm trying on Windows 10 (21H2) with vGPU on Horizon 8.4.0 Build – 18964730 and App Volumes 4.5. It seems the Policies are applied correct: 2022-02-18 13:25:33.105 [DEBUG] Conditions: Check for Horizon client property 'Launch_ID' = true ('Windows' is equal to 'Windows') 2022-02-18 13:25:33.105 [DEBUG] Collected Horizon Smart Policies settings for audio playback ('Test.xml') 2022-02-18 13:25:33.105 [DEBUG] Collected Horizon Smart Policies settings for bandwidth profile ('Test.xml') 2022-02-18 13:25:33.107 [INFO ] Applied Horizon Smart Policies settings: 2022-02-18 13:25:33.107 [INFO ] Bandwidth profile is set to 'Extremely low-speed connection' 2022-02-18 13:25:33.107 [INFO ] Audio playback is disabled I cant get it to work on first login Some years ago, there was the same question without a solution -> https://communities.vmware.com/t5/Dynamic-Environment-Manager/Smart-Policies-Bandwith-Profile-not-work/m-p/2277682 Any hints for me? Hi Community, I'm struggling with the UAG edge configuration. I configured my destination Connection server but the UAG interface always shows them as down. I can ping the destination connection server via IP and FQDN, nslookup is working as well. Its a non-fips UAG with custom SSL certificates, same for destination connection server. I dont know which logfile I should check Its a non productiv system, just want to refresh my horizon experience with Horizon 2006. Best regards Sebastian

Hi all, I found the issue. I had another Horizon installation on vSphere 6.7 + vSAN and got the same error, the customization stuck and timet out. I checked the composer logs and there was an issue with mounting / writing the personality disk (20MB). I configured the golden image with an nvme controller and that wasnt correct, I replaced the nvme controller with an paravirtual and now its working Same problem was on my vSphere 7 environment, replaced the scsi controller and everything is fine. Its strange because the nvme controller is the default controller for windows vms on vsphere 7 I hope it will be fixed or supported soon. best regards Sebastian

Hi, I tried some things: - create new Windows 10 (1909) template with latest Optimation Tool and without Optimization (1x vHW15 and 1x vHW17) -> not working - Reinstalled Composer Software -> not working - Replaced Composer certificate and checked connectivity in Horizon Admin Console -> not working - Deploy on different Datastore -> not working - manual join AD within template with same Account -> success - create instant pool -> success I can see that new AD objects are created, but the linked clone VMs doestn`t start correct. When I want to login on the linked clone VM via vSphere Client I only see a black screen, it seems the VMs doesn't start correct. Unfortunately I don´t have a logfile on the composer under C:\Windows\Temp\VMware\ I event dont have the VMware Directory... Any Ideas?

Hi Community, I have a Horizon 7.12 lab with vSphere 7. I want to test a linked clone pool of Windows 10 (1909) but the cusomization stuck without error. The maschines were deployed and they are running, but it seems the domain join is not working, I tried quickprep and sysprep with VM customization. With sysprep customization the hostname is changed, but no domain join. I tried the domain join from inside the vm with success, I also tried the VM customization policy for domain join with a vm template and it works as well. It´s only not working within horizon deployment. Does anyone has the same issue? Which logfile should I check? Best regards Sebastian
Hi, thanks for your reply. It's caused by the false Windows Edition (Professtional), I tried it with a Windows 10 Enterprise and it works. KR Sebastian

Hi Community, I have a Horizon 7.10 testing system and I'm testing with a manual desktop pool with one physical Windows 10 Pro (1909) Client. I have installed the latest 7.10 Horizon Agent on the physical machine but I can not access the machine over Blast. It works when I switch the protocol to RDP, has anybody else this issue and a recommend for me? Is it generally possible to connect to a physical desktop over Blast? KR Sebastian

sadly found the answer in the vSAN license guide: "vSAN for Desktop licensing is available for customers using vSAN exclusively for virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). This includes third-party VDI solutions in addition to VMware Horizon®. While this license option limits the use of vSAN to VDI workloads only..." So I believe it would work, but its not supported and a law violation. Best regards Sebastian

Hi Community, I have a question about the Advanced Horizon Bundle License Law especially with vSAN. vSAN Advanced (for desktop) is included with Horizon Advanced Bundle, it would be technically possible to share the vSAN Datastore via iSCSI, would that be a license violation? A customer asked for some idea: - one 3 node vSAN cluster only for Horizon Destkops and Horizon components with Horizon Advanced Bunlde license - a second 2 node cluster separated for infrastructure (with Essentials Plus) with iSCSI volumes from vSAN for HA He would have to take vSphere Enterprise Plus, vCenter, vSAN and Horizon Advanced Addon licenses seperate if he takes all components on one vSAN Cluster and that would be much higher cost for licenses. I´m looking forward for your answers but hardly believe it´s license violation Best regards Sebastian

Hi Ryan, Thanks for your fast response. As you said, it "should" be and I would agree with that. We plan to use the DC's only for the VDI environment (completely new infrastructure), if we are saving the user profiles on DFS shares (two file server), then the file server are needed for VDI and should be allowed? Best regards Sebastian

Hi Community I have a question about the horizon bundle license. The license includes the hypervisor for desktop, vCenter standard and the Horizon View components. What is allowed with this license model? Can I only deploy the VDI desktops on the cluster licensed with the bundle, or can I deploy and manage other VMs needed for VDI too (e.g. Connection Server, Composer, SQL, Exchange, DC, File/Terminal Server)? It would be very helpful if you have a valid link / document with the license law Thanks in advance. Sebastian
