Hi,  Has anyone found a way to handle HKLM registry entries with DEM. So far logon tasks seem to be the only option.
Thanks mate. I recalled seeing that in DEM a while back but could not for the life of me figure out where I saw it and also couldn't locate it in the documentation.
Hey,  I am working on a project and would like to trigger a task if the endpoint ip have changed. Any thoughts on how I could achieve this? There should really be a built-in trigger. Regards,
I do not believe they figured it out yet. I have a call with them tomorrow morning so they can gather more logs.
I was not able to resolve it using that command either. I did however speak with Microsoft and opened a case. Apparently it is a known issue but they do not a solution for it yet.
Yeah currently having the same issue. Nothing changed in our environment. We just started hearing user complaining about it. Did you ever found a solution to the issue.

AppX are the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps. There aren't any information about them in the DEM logs.

I just finished analyzing my logon time. It has been creeping up since 1809 and it turns out about 40 seconds is spent on Appx. This is an open discussing on how can we tackle this. I have done a tone of research and thus far nothing concrete.  Logon start : 7/15/2021 09:26:37 Logon end : 7/15/2021 09:27:38 Duration : 61 seconds Source Phase Duration (s) Start Time End Time Gap (s) ------ ----- ------------ ---------- -------- ------- Windows Windows Logon Time 0.0 09:26:36.0 09:26:36.0 Windows User Profile 1.5 09:26:37.8 09:26:39.3 1.8 Windows Group Policy 2.9 09:26:39.5 09:26:42.4 0.2 Shell AppX File Associations 4.5 09:26:59.1 09:27:03.6 16.6 Shell AppX - Load Packages 39.2 09:26:59.7 09:27:38.9 Shell ActiveSetup 0.1 09:27:00.7 09:27:00.8 Windows Duration 61.0
In our situation it turns out to be related to the Remote Session role. A reboot is needed between installing the feature and Horizon View Agent.
Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like we need an Enforce checkbox that overrides all policies.
Hi,  If I have two policies applying to the same target. One allows and one denies, which one wins?

I am hoping someone else have seen this issue before but I have an image where when I deploy my RDS farm from it, I encounter and error message "Configuration Error" after the hosts being stuck on "Starting Other Agent Services" - Can't seem to determine which service or services it is looking for. However, the clone seem to be perfectly healthy but in configuration error state in Horizon View.

Hey,  Is there a workaround to allow/disable HTML Access at the pool or farm level like it used to be. I have one parent image but multiple pools. I would like to disable HTML Access on some but allow others and thanks for the VMware gods who know best, they took that option away from the pool/farm settings.

I've had use cases, mostly RDS, where I want to to create a shortcut for an application on the clones at computer start up and then publish such application through Horizon view. I like my environment as dynamic as it can be. I don't want unnecessary applications and/or shortcuts on my desktops. Everything gets created at clone level at computer start up. Currently I am running a script through task scheduler, as system, that created shortcuts to the desktops, RDSH and VDI, base on their naming conditions. The script also set registry keys for applications on the clones base on computer name as well.  The bottom line is I have over 100+ pools and  I wish to manage has as low as three golden images if possible.

Don't mean to jump out to topics but when is DEM going to allow computer environment manger to create shortcuts, registry settings, file and folders, including policies settings that are not "real" policies?  I am currently running DEM 9.11 in production. DEM 2013 10.2 in LAB and still not sure if it's worth moving to production with that version since it is lacking essential features.
Thanks for confirming. It's fair to say there isn't a way to accomplish this at this time?

I thought about using match regex but I have never had any luck using it for exact match on IP addresses.  Let's say I have  10.0.0.1 - 10.0.0.20  & 10.1.0.1 - 10.1.0.20 How would you do that so it... See more...

Well I said name as an example but not I am actually doing.  I have a policy set to disable printing if a user is external and user is not a member of a security group. Our vendors are external users but we do have an IPSec tunnel. Their traffic is configured to go through a few Unified Access Gateways. The APs' GatewayLocation is set to Internal so we can treat them as internal users. Unfortunately, I don't know if there is a bug with the Unified access gateway version but it is setting the location as external regardless of what option is set. VMware support is testing to find out why that is. In the meantime I still need to get my VPN users printing. My solution is to create a condition set with all the UAGs and add it to the printing policy as a third condition. That is taking a long time to enter all the IPs one at a time.
