How did you solve this problem? We have the same issue.
Thank you for the answer!

Hi, I have a question about assignments. We are using Appvolumes 4. E.G. We have an application Google Chrome, the AD group "Google Chrome" has an assignment for it. V1 is the current package. We make a new V2 package and we want to test it with a specific user, function test, before we make the V2 the current version. But the functional test user is also part of the "Google Chrome" AD group. We don't want to remove the user from this group, because sometimes we use this group als for other user rights (e.g. a file share).  What's the best solution so that a specific package (in our example V2) is attached to a user? Thx for the explanation.

Hi, Does anybody know when App Volumes 4 will be in the Service Branch (ESB)? Grtz, Pieter
Where can I download 4.0.2? Thanks. Pieter
Thanks again Sjesse. We are going to look at all the suggestions.
Oja, I Windows forwarding, maybe also a solution..

Thank you Demdev and Sjesse. We are going to look at the tools Sjesse mentioned. I know that we can use the Windos log, but the problem is, the log is gone when a user logs off. We use a VDI environment. So I prefer a log system who scans the profile directory. When we created a method, I'll post it here, so other people can also use it.

The Timestamp, message type fields should be easy the last field depending on what you want to achieve gets more complicated since it contains a full message were we only want some info from for example the time in ms an action took, because this field contains a lot of different data this gets hard to filter. (maybe we should ask for a csv, Json, XML, or JSON formatted log with some fixed field names) something like : [TimeStamp],[username],[Message Type],[Duration(ms)],[Message] when doing csv (but not the case right now) Maybe can DEMdev tell if the log file can be formatted in a csv or other format. And if there something on the road map for DEM, about logs / formatting
Hi Mark, Thank you for your suggestions. Next week, we will discuss, how we are going to make the 'system'. When we are further, I'll post it in this thread. Pieter

Hi, We soon start with implementing Horizon DEM in our hospital. We want to centralize all "WARN," "ERROR," "and "FATAL" entries from the FlexEngine.log, FlexEngine-async.log and FlexEngine-DefaultApplications.log. Our plan is to make script which runs every x time, that checks all log directories in the profile dir. All "WARN," "ERROR," "and "FATAL" entries are written in a database, that we can check. In our environment there are working 4000 users (2000 concurrent), a lot of users don't call our helpdesk if logontimes are longer then expected. So we want to set up a proactive logging system, where we can see what problems there are and what needs to be fixed. Does anybody created such a script / system in the past? Otherwise we are going to make it by our own. Anybody has idea's about this 'system', how it should work? If anybody is interested in this logging system, please let us know, we are happy to share it, when it is finished. Pieter

Hi Mark, Wow, what a nice post! Thanks for sharing! I have a question, I work also in a large hospital in the south, same country as you. We are going to implement a Horizon environment W10 with DEM and App Volumes (2 or 4), within the next 6 months. At the moment we use Citrix XenDesktop, that will be migrated to Horizon. We use around 2000 concurrent VDI's and a lot of fat clients. At the moment we are designing (together with a third party) our environment. Is it possible to make an appointment with you, so we can come to your hospital and see how your environment is set-up, problems, lessons learned, etc. Let me know if that is possible for you. Best regards, Pieter

Hi Ivan, - Log on with a user - Configure the default apps in Settings/Control Panel - Logoff the user (to save the default apps/fta's in the ZIP file) - Use the ZIP file as a predefined setting (default (runned once) or forced, depending on your requirements) - Configure FTA's in User Environment - Have the Default Apps & FTA's config file present (based on 9.11 built-in template that contains the magic for saving/restoring default apps and fta's) Do you also use the DEM Application Profiler? Or just the steps which you mentioned? Thanks, Pieter

Hi, We are looking for best practice guides, how to create an App Volume: - What machine to use for creating App Volumes, clean machine, with or without office? - Do you need to start the application during capturing (such as by ThinApp). - We are going to use NVIDIA GPU in our environment, do we need to create the App Volumes on a machine with the NVIDIA GPU? - Sometimes during installation hardware needs to be connected, for finalizing the driver, how can we do that. So we have a lot of questions, I hope someone has a best practice document. Thanks, Pieter
Thank you for your answer! We are going to do a pilot with AppVolumes 4 and test our top 10 applications.

Hi, We are going to implement the Horizon suite with DEM very soon, all new versions of the products. We are looking if we are going to use appvolume 2.18 or 4.x. We have around 300-400 appstack applications. Is there any reason to choose 2.18 or should always choose 4.x? Are there advantages for using 2.18 instead of 4.x? Cheers, Pieter
